If you've just moved to Charlotte or are thinking of moving to Charlotte, here are a few quick tips to help you on the road and make your transition easier.... You must get a North Carolina drivers license within 60 days of establishing residency in the state. After the age of 20, you are required to renew your drivers license every 5 years. After obtaining a drivers license, you are required to register your vehicle, and renew that registration every year. You also have to get your car inspected each year, or your registration and/or tags will be revoked. Inspections are quick and easy and will cost about $30. You must wear your seat belt in the front seats at all times while driving in the state of North Carolina. Click it or ticket, as the saying goes...Booze it and lose it is anothe...

Whether you're from New York or just a fan of the cuisine, Katz New York Deli in the Arboretum Office Park is as close to authentic NY deli food as you can get. I happen to work in the same office park in south Charlotte and have to admit that their Reuben quite possibly IS the best in Charlotte, as they claim. If you're in the mood for a blintz, some lox, nova, matzo ball soup, even cow tongue (which I have yet to try), Katz has it all. All kosher, all delicious, all the time. So if you're considering buying a home in Charlotte, or are from NY and are experiencing cravings, be sure to stop by Katz across from the Arboretum, near the Carolina Home Pros Team at RE/MAX Metro Realty. And pick me up some fries while you're there...

Uptown Charlotte's Third Ward district has a new dog park. Frazier Park now has a designated area for dogs weighing 20 pounds or less. You can bring your pooch over for a playdate from 6:30am til 7pm all week long, and it's free. Of course you are required to clean up after Fido and make sure he has all his vaccinations up to date. Charlotte's other dog parks include McAlpine Creek Community Park on Monroe Rd., Reedy Creek Park on Rocky River Rd. (north Charlotte), Ramsey Creek Park on Nance Rd. in Cornelius, and William R. Davie Park on Pineville-Matthews Rd. All of the dog parks are free and open from 6:30am-7pm.

Buying or selling a home in Charlotte isn't as complicated as it may seem, especially when it comes to getting an appraisal. Making sure your appraiser is state certified and licensed is easy and important, whether the appraisal is ordered by you ora lender. You can find information about them online or by asking your Charlotte real estate agent. To insure you're getting a fair appraisal, hire an independent one yourself, don't let the lender choose. Getting a second opinion is completely normal too, especially if common sense tells you that the home you're wanting to buy has been over-valued. Don't be afraid to ask questions, do some research, and talk to your real estate agent when getting an appraisal. The agents on the Carolina Home Pros Team at RE/MAX Metro Realtyin Charlotte can h...

A recent study done by Bankrate, Inc. has found that North Carolina has the lowest closing costs in the nation. The study proposed what the closing cost would be for buying a home in North Carolina with a 30 year fixed-rate $200,000 mortgage, and a 20% down payment. $2,650 was the average in North Carolina, with the national average being $3,118. Coming as very little of a surprise, New York has an average of $4,016. Contact the Carolina Home Pros Team at RE/MAX Metro Realty if you have any questions about closing costs or buying a home in Charlotte.

I've been successfully selling homes for 11 years, working patiently with buyers throughout the process of finding the perfect home, and feeling confident in my ability to quickly understand what is is important to them in their search. During this time, I've lived in the same home I bought 15 years ago, never feeling the desire to move. Last year, at 45 years old, I got married for the first (and last!) time, and now there are two of us to consider. We have through the process of elimination decided to remain in this house and to put our equity into a mountain house, always a dream for me. Not only am I a newlywed, suddenly, I've also become a Buyer!I found a Realtor through the CRS Referral book, Andrea Reeves of Regency Properties in West Jefferson, NC, and told her from the beginnin...

Charlotte NC-EASTOVER Charlotte NC—EASTOVER Eastover, located southeast of Charlotte’s Center City, formerly two dairy farms, (also formerly Myers Park Eastover), was developed by E. C. Griffith in 1927.  From the days of Earle Sumner Draper, the Southeastern US ‘premier’ urban planner to present day, Charlotte NC's Eastover has been the home of some of Charlotte’s most elite.  From cotton brokers to bankers to attorneys, the facilitators of Charlotte’s growth have resided in Eastover.  E.C. Griffith sought to create Eastover as a competitor to Myers Park.  Charlotte was headquarters to 770 textile mills, consuming more cotton than any other sector of the world.  In 1927, the piedmont North and South Carolina, officially surpassed New England in cotton cloth production.  Charlotteans no...

With all the media hype about how horrible the economy and real estate market is nation wide I figured it was time we fight back. Yes the media paints a bad picture but we have to remember the media is also our key outlet for when the market is good and they are pushing people to buy, buy, buy houses! I wanted to point out some obvious and key ideas we all need to remember in a slow market that will continue to give you the push you need to make it through any market. 1. First and foremost, stay positive. No matter how hard things may get try to remember the positive side of it. Just remember what does not kill you makes you stronger and we can all stand to learn something new everyday. 2. For those of you that have been in the business for a while or even newbies, look at this market a...
