Huntsville, AL Real Estate News

This year, Huntsville Mobile Notary celebrated its third anniversary.  As a business owner, this was no small accomplishment.  According to the Small Business Association, most small businesses fail within the first five years for a variety of reasons.  I would attribute my "success" to three things:  determination, God's blessings, and diversification.  And not necessarily in that order. I want to write about diversifying my business.  Huntsville Mobile Notary provides mobile notary public services in North Alabama.  That is, was and continues to be the reason for me being in business.  In addition to receiving phone calls from the general public to notarize Wills, Powers of Attorney, Parental Consent forms, etc., I hear from law firms and Title companies; Signing Services and Settleme...

Article Credits;  Realty Times Real Estate Articles are below. Full articles can be found at the Realty Times website.  Media Dropping Ball on Housing-Market Trends by M. Anthony Carr I clicked a link to the Wall Street Journal's market data chart, called the Hagerty's Quarterly Housing Report and was really taken aback by what they are reporting in the Washington, D.C. area (my home base). Again, they have labeled our market as a "buyers" market and reported that more foreclosures are on the way. The problem I have with both those statements is that   they are created out of data provided by the real estate industry; and   they are accurate, but not truly reflective. The real estate industry is its worst enemy when it comes to reporting sales data to the media and, ergo, the public. T...

I ran across an interesting tidbit of information this week while cruising the Internet. I never knew that much of Huntsville's Historic District is said to be haunted by several ghosts. Yep I said ghosts. ...I know ...I know ...but bare with me for a moment because this is actually an interesting family outing you can do while you are visiting Huntsville this summer or fall. Huntsville historian and award-winning author, Jacquelyn Procter Reeves, has researched at length the history of our very own historic district. What she has uncovered will likely surprise many of us locals who thought we knew it all. In fact what she has uncovered and documented within her books are little known facts, as well as historic rumors, of haunted places in our very own Old Town Historic District. Ok, he...

"As banks pull back on risk taking across the nation, consumer-loan balances in places like Huntsville, Ala., are rising. In Huntsville, a metropolitan area of 376,000 that is home to many government contractors, borrowing increased 13.2% per household in last year's fourth quarter, compared with the year-earlier period, according to data provided to The Wall Street Journal by Moody's Economy.com and Equifax Inc. Huntsville's increase was the largest among 207 U.S. metropolitan areas tracked by the two data-gathering firms. Similar-size cities such as McAllen and Brownsville, Texas; Yakima, Wash; Provo, Utah, and Lafayette, La., also saw consumer-loan balances rise by more than 8% year-over-year." -By DAN FITZPATRICK

Harrison Brothers Hardware in Huntsville Alabama is a true must see destination!  I had my first visit last week and was in awe.                           Harrison Brothers Hardware is Huntsville's oldest operating hardware store, founded in 1879 by brothers James and Daniel Harrison.  Following the death of the last Harrison (Daniels son John)  in 1983, the Historic Huntsville Foundation purchased the property to carry on the tradition.  They have done a fabulous job of preserving the store!       When I first stepped in to Harrison Brothers Hardware, I immediately took in the smells of the old hardwood flooring, enjoying the sounds of the squeaking floors.     Harrison Brothers Hardware is ran by all volunteers.  Cliff, one of the 25 volunteers,  was on duty that day and  happily took...

I constantly speak to people who feel as if there is no way to change there bad credit situation. I understand that its not the persons fault who feels this way. It is the lack of resources presented to the people who have the issues.  Now my job as a Credit Specialist is to do just that. Give consumers the knowledge and direction that is required in order to have negative and derogatory information removed from your credit reports legally. The reason I started P.Bradshaw Financial Services was to empower others so they wouldn't have to face the same difficulties I faced throughout my matriculationin college. It was impossible for me to dedicate 100 percent of my time to school when I had to worry about if I would be able to be approved for a school loan or even approved for an off camp...

Given the recent financial system upheaval, I was anxious to look at September's sales, inventory, and pricing to see if the Huntsville Real Estate Market will show any stress and strain given recent developments. However since these events are so recent, any local effects likely won't become statistically measurable for a few months. To summarize what September's statistics indicate, let's take a look at unit sales, raw inventory, and current home prices separately and then summarize any conclusions we are able to make: Unit Home Sales - the Huntsville metro area's September 2008 unit sales were down ~12% when compared to September of a year ago. This year-over-year comparison is not as extensive as we have seen in recent months because data was being compared to a 12 month period wher...

My family loves good food. We are all big meat lovers, with Steak being our top choice.  My husband and daughter are both big seafood lovers as well.  We love to venture out as a family and try new restaurants. As for a good Steak house, we have had a hard time finding one we all love, that is affordable.  Part of the problem could be that Tim, my husband, knows how to cook a superb steak on grill. He has the magic touch! Our last few outings have been less than exciting.   We decided to try Connors Steak and Seafood, located at Bridge Street Towne Center here in Huntsville.  Am I ever glad we did!  We were told from many, how wonderful the food and service was.  In fact, I have never heard a negative thing about Connors Steak and Seafood, come to think of it.  Now I know why!  We were ...
