The start of the new year provides a backdrop for the expansion of our service from the TRi-Cities/Prescott area into the Red Rocks area of Sedona and the Verde Valley.  In support of this growth move, we have joined the SVVAR and begun to market our services to the Realtors of the area.  Until demanded by business pressure, I will personally be handling service in this new market area.

So what do you do when your car won't start?  Here's what I did: I solicited my "oh-so-qualified" friends on Active Rain and they coached me through a jump start. No injuries even!Several months ago when I was out here the Jeep Wrangler had a clutch issue.  It was a fiasco.  We dropped the Jeep off at Canyon Auto, just off of Coffee Pot Drive in west Sedona.  Jim Mclaughlin was a super hero.  He fixed it up straight away and arranged for my friend and landscape artist, Mathew Crozier to pick it up for me and park it in the garage.  Well, today when that Jeep didn't start and after the whole jump start thing I drove it straight back to Canyon Auto for the battery to be checked.  It was basically a boat anchor and needed swapped out.  To my horror, Jim who is the size of a giant and a big...

On Father's Day, we decided to take a drive. We flipped a coin and decided to head north. (It certainly must be cooler up there!)...We drove for a little while and came across this great education opportunity called Montezuma's Castle.  This is the Sinagua legacy.Part of the National Park Service, this structure is nothing, except Absolutely Amazing!  This is an entire village that was built into the side of the mountain.  There is a minimal admission fee, but it's worth it.  We spent about an hour at Montezuma's Castle just walking around and taking pictures.   WOW!A few miles north, is Sedona Arizona.  While I must admit, Sedona's going through some "growing pains" - the road construction is extensive, but in no way impedes the beauty of the red rock. Sedona is a new age, artist colon...

This question came up recently about my chosen home of Sedona, Arizona and not in truth knowing the answer,  I decided to find out.According to Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary, a "City" is defined as "an inhabited place of greater size, population, or importance* than a town or village".A "Town" is "a cluster or aggregation of houses recognized as a distinct place with a place-name; a compactly settled area as distinguished from surrounding rural territory, usually larger than a village but smaller than a city".A "Village" is "a settlement usually larger than a hamlet and smaller than a town; an incorporated minor municipality". And, a "Hamlet" is "a small village" (or a legendary Danish prince and  hero of Shakespeare's play of the same name, if you prefer ;^).Whew. Glad we cleared...

Recently reported in the news the City Council denied the Arizona Water Company permit allowing them to double the capacity of the existing 100,000 gallon tank which is located off Dry Creek Road and Lizard Head Lane.  The current City restricts building heights to 22 feet.  The water tank would have increased its height to 44 feet, making the tank the tallest water tank in Sedona.Red Cliffs residents were strongly opposed to the Arizona Water Proposal and have been fighting it for over a year.  Their concerns were lower property values and destroying the area's scenic beauty.  Their recommendation is to widen the tank not make it taller. The final vote ended with a 7-0 denial of the Arizona Water Company's appeal.

For those of you who don't know, Sedona is a small city (population about 11,000) in North Central Arizona's high desert country. Now, many of you might think that's too small a population to even call a city, but perhaps I digress. What I wanted to talk about today is actually counties. To be precise, the two counties that claim part of Sedona as theirs: Yavapai and Coconino.OK, I can hear you now: "Yava-what?", "Coco-who?". Ya see, most people can't even remember the names of these counties, let alone pronounce them ('course it is an easy way to ferret out the natives and natives-in-training ;^). Prehistory: first humans lived here from about 4000 BC. Sinagua Indians flourished here 900-1350 AD, followed by the Yavapai and Apache from about 1400 AD. First anglo settler: J.J. Thompson in 1876 at Indian Gardens. First Post Office established, and the town named after Sedona Schnebly, wife of first postmaster T.C. Schnebly on June 26, 1902.
