I don't currently own a pet but I still have fuzz and fur around in different places on the floor.  We did take Dart with on vacation, depending on how we were traveling there.  He did not fly well so we boarded him during those vacations.  We called it a doggie resort as opposed to a kennel.  We think he enjoyed the break as well.  Saying that, we did take him to the beach.  ONCE and after that never again. He did enjoy racing around on the soft sandy beaches and running thru the surf, chasing the shore birds.  Then it all started, we never did get all the sand from his fur, he got an infected eye from a sand particle and suffered intestinal distress for at least a week after lapping at the salty water. (you can read between the lines here)I am passing this information along so my read...
