Facebook: No.  I only accept those from people I know personally.  The rest can like my business page.

LinkedIn: I'm more "accepting" on there.  But it depends on where they are located.  An RE school I would not accept, simply because I'm already set with what I need.

I've become more selective in accepting invitations for many reasons.

I don't use Linkedin anymore. It never produced business for me. I don't receive business requests on my Facebook account, probably due to the fact I have a different name on there. I do get a lot of friend requests on my personal Facebook (private) & Instagram (public) accounts. They are not business related. I do accept friend requests from my clients but not from strangers.  I have business accounts under my company name for business purposes.

Not on Facebook, Instagram, etc. On those sites, the goal is social interaction so I don't typically interact socially with people I don't know or don't want to kow.

But on LinkedIn, since it is primariy professional connections, the goal is to collect connections, so I accept most.

I do not accept LinkedIn unless I know them personally or in conducting business with them.  For business purposes, it needs to be more than a one-off business contact.  So for business contacts that want to sell me something; nope.  Maybe later if we develop a business relationship.

I need stuff. I let them stuff my 'need stuff' email address but I don't want the chatter they create on LI and FB. However, the chatter is unavoidable. The "accept" is used with extreme caution, and only with those whose front door I can find. Sometimes a bump on the head is the only thing people understand.
