Yes I have ... years ago. I am so not a fan of it. I now feel it is manipulative and I choose not to use it.  I prefer to be real and natural and just connect with people.

Google it.  It is interesting, but we are not fans.  I do feel it is manipulative, and not how we want to present ourselves.  We don't want to work with those who can be manipulated.  That being said, some people have had positive results...A

Peter Mohylsky John Grinder and Richard Bandler developed NLP in the early 70's. However, it was probably Tony Robbins who is most famous for popularizing NLP and firewalking.

Back in the 80s when it was very big, I did have Neuro Linguistics Programming (NLP) training for sales work.  The theory behind it, of course, is that our actions give away our intent and that you can "read" and adjust your "message" via similar actions to obtain an accord with the other person so that you can sell, or get your proposal accepted, a contract signed, etc.

Okay, I am going to preface this by saying a have a slight "Sheldon Cooper" (Big Bang Theory) issue in that I am totally incompetent in reading and understanding nonverbal "cues" from other people, so I used NLP to help me bridge a gap in dealing with people. I do not use it to manipulate others, but it gave me the guide I needed to understand others.

Are there proven references, I do not know, but in the 30 years I've used it, it has definitely helped me work with others and to achieve personal success.  If you met me today, you would not know I ever had the issues of which I reference above in my past. So for me it worked.

Not sure what NLP training is, Peter. So I would guess I haven't.

Boy I haven't heard of that in a while. Some of Tom Ferry's traning used to have NLP in it.

Some people think it's manipulative, I think it's just using human nature.

I took it and DISC through Sandler Sales Training years ago; not sure if Sandler is National? If you Google NLP, besides the obvious NLP.com, you'll find local businesses offering it in your area.

Had this many, many moons ago. Do I use it? Probably subconsciously.

I have had some from the Mike Ferry organization and most recently from a former CIA operative.  There are some good and reputable sources out there, probably some good ones on youtube and google.

I'd start on Utube if you never tried any. Most big names among motivational speakers are heavy on using NLP. 

I've been exposed to it and had some training in it. I don't generally use it consciously, but found I had been doing it prior to being exposed to it.  It can work, it can be done to help or hurt like many techniques.
