I grew up in Rhett Butler's hometown, Charleston, SC, a budding cartoonist and illustrator.  I went to the University of Virginia for two years, then transferred to NYU film school to be an animator--but came out a filmmaker instead.  While in NYC I spent a year as Robert De Niro's personal assistant, wrote a World's Fair show, and travelled the world doing corporate videos.  My NYU short won lots of awards and played on HBO and cable for 13 years.  I started writing screenplays so I'd have something to direct, and eventually came to L.A. and fell into journalism, working for ten years as a feature writer for The Hollywood Reporter, The Los Angeles Times, and Premiere magazine.

The Internet boom hit, and I became the west coast director of business development for HyperCD, selling a hybrid Web/CD technology to movie studios, networks, and record labels.  The company stock options never made me rich, so I started my own marketing consultancy (Craftsman Ink) and did creative writing for Fortune 500 clients like Sony, Xerox and Kodak.  Along the way I served as Founding Director of the Act One Executive Program (www.actoneprogram.com) and also created Impact! 2004, a two-day conference on Branded Entertainment.  I love start-ups.

I fell in love with real estate as an investor first.  I became a RE boot camp junkie, learning creative techniques for financing, buying and selling properties, and bought three rental properties (I love being a landlord, too).  I did marketing for various real estate and investment companies, ran an escrow company for a while, and then realized--wow!--I could apply all those years of marketing and communication expertise to my own business, on behalf of my own buyer and seller clients. 

A Realtor® was born.

I love this business, and the fact that it uses all of who I am--a people person, networker, entertainment/media/new media guy, writer, photographer/visual artist, marketer, creative thinker, investor, evangelist, salesman, therapist, and creative problem solver.
