Dillards New Years Day Sale was so much fun.  I'll let you in on our game plan, and what worked and didn't work.  I'm not a Black Friday shopper, so my experience is limited.  I didn't know what to expect!   We went to Dillards on New Years Eve to get a feel for the layout of the store and where the sale items would be located.  We both selected some shoes that we tried on and then put them all in a pile on the table hoping they would still be there in the morning.  We had heard from some other shoppers that when they "hid" items in the store, they couldn't locate them when they came in for the sale.  I'm pretty sure the sales associates are directed to canvass their area for "contraband".   New Years morning we arrived at the store about two hours before the opening.  It was frigid but...
