Sap from the plant has the ability to bond with your skin when exposed to sunlight it causes inflammation, itching, weeping blisters and eventually will leave black and purplish scars. Giant hogweed is most frequently found adjacent to streams, creeks, roads, in vacant lots or in rights of ways. "Even a tiny trace of sap applied to the eye can singe the cornea, causing temporary or permanent blindness, he added. Summer Time Visitors When You live In The Country When You live in the country your visitors are more likely to be of the four legged kind. Skunks and Racoons to Mink, Otter and Muskrats even the odd Deer or Bear all stop by for a visit in our neighbourhood.  Our feathered visitors range from Osprey and Canada Geese to Great Blue Herons, we have had Mallards, Mergansers and wood ducks stop by along with our Grosbeaks, Cardinals, Orioles, humming birds and many others to numerous to mention. In the river at our back door we see a variety of small fish, crayfish, water spiders and beetles even the odd turtle. Month End May 31st, 2013 - Uxbridge Real Estate Market Snapshot May Figures Send A Mixed Message Currently there are 149 properties for sale in Uxbridge, up from 141 at month end, and up significantly from the 116 homes available at the end of April. In May the Number of Days on the market dropped slightly from 38 to 36. The number of homes for sale continued to climb while the number of sales dropped from 41 in April to 33 in May. Homes that are priced for today's market are still selling quickly while overpriced listings are languishing adding to the build up in listings. Even though our place is high and dry we could not help but notice some of the damage done by the still swollen Muskoka River.
