So You Wanna Raise Urban Chickens. Believe it or not, this is coming up more and more often when Buyers give their Realtors their list of search criteria. As it just so happens, I raise urban chickens. For 9 months now. So I would like to offer some common sense advice on How To Raise Urban Chickens and still be on speaking terms with your neighbors. Some Day A Chicken Will Be Able To Cross The Road And Not Be Asked Why. Just one of the many poultry sayings I've encountereed lately, as my winter "project" this year involves a flock of chickens. Yes, Chickens. Urban Chickens to be exact. Lo and behold, where I live has no regulations in regards to chickens. Except one ... don't be a nuisance. In chickenese that means no loud noises (cock a doodle doos), no nasty smell, and pretty much don't annoy the neighbors. Our property is pretty much perfect for this project. Very private, wooded, neighbors are not too close, even though we smack dab in the middle of the city. The coop doesn't even look like a real coop. More like a kids playhouse.
