Before updating the servers, there's much more they can do to speed up the website.

For example, on this page, I counted over 10 external Java Script files being called and 10 CSS - that's crazy.

Just consolidating half of those would improve speed considerably.

http2 would help with that, but, it's still a lot of stuff to download.

Sadly, there is no motivation or incentive to do this, let alone the economics behind it (and I don't blame AR). We are just happy it's alive (for now...).

I don't think the Commodore 64 is capable of any updates

Sure Peter Mark , just purchase the company from Ben and spend a million or two of your dollars to make it better for the rest of us.

Everybody complains about the problems but nothing seems to be getting done about it. It used to be that Active Rain would inform the membership of updates and how they would improve the site -  but that has not happened in years.

That would be nice, wouldn't it, Peter. You may have to take that request to Ben Kinney who owns the platform. We have no say in it.... unless we all vote with our feet and leave... but I don't see that happening any time soon.

Wishes can come true. Do you believe in wishes, Peter?  That may work as effectively as anything else. Fortunately or Unfortunately.  What you see is what you "got".

No.  They can hardly keep them running, it seems, with people being kicked off for server issues lately.  When they implemented Amazon storage for the images, it caused all sorts of problems for weeks.  Personally, I wouldn't ask for any more upgrades.

Everytime they update the servers things are worse than before. I have done this test also long ago & it was just as bad.

I doubt that it will happen. Email Ben & see what happens.

Some days are good some have issues, as do most sites.  Try running your test a few more times.

I found that AR is not very technology friendly.

The issues given the players of former ownership might prove difficult to ht though

It's a work in-progress. I've heard major changes are coming - perhaps a speedier server is one of them.

I really appreciate a speedy site. Having said that, I've grown accustomed to your tortoise-like speed & I still like you AR. Maybe you should listen to these guys Peter Mark & Dario Ferreira, they seem to have some good ideas.

Every Active Rain participant should send Ben $30 monthly. After recive such a HUGE income, those same 37 active members can suggest the improvement otherwise, payments will cease.  HOWEVER, we will be advised that those dollars was spent on software changes that make certain only paying folks can use AR. Didn't see that coming.

It is more practical to find another place to hang around the water cooler.

Am happy the way it is.  Unless you come up with a NO increased COST solution? From a computer illiterate..other than a few bumps here and there, I've had no problem.  My Hp Pavillion with 2T is only one year old from Best Buy.

Don't hold your breath about any problems being rectified any time soon...  There does not appear to be anyone in charge who cares about the people who pay their monthly fee to use this platform to make it run more efficiently.

 Suggest you eMail to support. About 2 years ago they had a live person made some pledges and that was about it.....
