I used to play the flute and piano.  Today I play drums on my steering wheel when I am rocking out in my car. 

Does the radio count? I have no musical ability. I even go to the 7:30 am mass so I do not have to sing. 

Yes. I sing, and I can play keyboards. I also play rattles and cowbell. Oh, plus I was a DJ for 25 years + and I can play turntables. And control boards. Rock and roll

Air guitar is about it.  10+ years ago when I worked at Guitar Center's corporate office one of the VPs lead a guitar class.  I bought a guitar and started learning, but fell behind due to an extensive travel schedule.  That's as far as I got.  Probably should sell/donate/give away the guitar at this point.

Guitar, Banjo, Piano, Violin... I still have a guitar in my closet, seriously neglected... I haven't played it for years.  I gave one of my guitars away to a colleague's daughter who was learning guitar.

I also have my father's clarinet in my closet... but I don't play clarinet, never have.

Clarinet, piano and guitar in my early days. All well enough to get by if I really have to, but practicing a song for proficiency would take me a long time. I don't play any of them now, though we own all three, and really don't care enough to even worry about it. The only reason I keep the piano around is for sentimental value and one day maybe to have my kids take lessons. -Kasey

I never learned to play but wanted for years to take piano lessons and play well. That is one reason I encouraged my son to play, take lessons and practice. He took lessons on many instruments. Now he plays trombone in the Navy band and says he loves doing it every day.

Those who have mastered an instrument have an asymmetrical way of thinking that is very conducive to inspired suggestions. At the master level they are creators and exceptionally competent imitators.

Life often takes us away from music. The finger tips turn to jelly, the stroke more hesitant, the satisfaction not full. 

The sage words from long ago to 'reutn to your first love' may have more dimension that first thought.

My parents had me take accordian lessons when I was about 6 years old.  I was pretty good and loved it. Then we had to learn how to read music and it was like math to me. I couldn't get it and never played again :(

I have tried many: guitar, harmonica, coronet, drums. My most recent and favorite was piano. However, I have more of a physical feel for music, and thus consider myself a dancer rather than a musician.

I don't but my husband used to play guitar as well, was in a band for like 30 years? Since he was 12 until he was 40!

Did a lot of shows all over NJ then move to Los Angles and did more. I only got to see his last live show.

I now play piano/keyboard, but have also played flute and acoustic guitar in the past - and still have both. If you're not motivated, then that guitar will continue to gather dust!

I played the drums as a young person and guitar since 1972. I played in a lot of metal bands through the 80s and 90s, but I rarely pick it up today. I do love to play, but it's not a priority. My wife is a wonderful musician.

I know of a realtor who takes his guitar to Open Houses, and folks passing through seem to always comment and love it Nathan Gesner.  He gets to have fun, practice, and entertain, all at the same time.  I had taken piano lessons as a kiddo, as my Mom had musical ability (piano, organ, and violin), though that gene did not filter down to me, sad to say!  So, 'no', I do not play an instrument.

I used to play clarinet.  I also learned violin a bit (via my grandfather), but I only played in the orchestra for a year or two.  In middle school, we were required to play guitar...I think for maybe 6 weeks or something. They wanted us to cut our nails, but I refused and figured out a way to work around them.

Never learned! Did take piano lessons when I was young but did not continue.

Started guitar when 8 years old...still pick it up although not as enthusiastically since I missed stardom!

As a matter of fact I play three and two of those I play very well.

My mom was a piano teacher, hated taking lessons, but now have her piano, and is out of tune, or would play it.
