I am guilty of it at times.  Sometimes one part of the question strikes a cord so the rest of it gets lost. Other times, it seems there is not enough information to fully answer the question.

Jack - I would have to agree with that statement. I actually feel that most people just don't listen in general, and can't wait to start talking about what they want to talk about, ignoring what they just heard.

I have always tried to listen and understand before responding  -- whether it is an answer to a question, or a comment, or even another question to clarify things.

I hope i have the answer beforehand so that I can answer -- but if I do not have the answer, then I usually go in search of an answer.
