Captain Wayne - I typically don't want to be bothered with live chat. If I am on a website and I can't find what I am looking for, I will just go to the next website.

It depends on whether I have to register with name, email, etc. I ignore those.

No. I genrally close that box. Now I do sometimes do live chat with someone I already do business with. Tech support at my MLS offers that.

Almost never. But, there have been a few times where I really had a need and called and they had long wait time and I tried chat in parallel.

Captain,
I find it annoying. and it is so much easier to pick up the phone, instead of typing back and forth, etc...A

Captain Wayne - Rowlett Real Estate School - depends how much time I have. I prefer to pick up the phone and talk.

Yes I do. Products I buy for my real estate business (WiseAgent) have proven this feature to be incredibly valuable.
I find for my real estate business, the icon gets clicked but my availability to chat rarely fits both schedules. So it defaults to a text message which can work.
Be aware, if you have a 3rd part staff your chat function with the message 'Cpt'n Wayne will call you back' it will prove counterproductive.

Yes, I used that feature a few times, but those are for big companies who can effort the luxury of having a many reps online.

I have been to a few real estate websites with live chat and I have not been impressed with them. The live chats have been done by other companies rather than directly with the agents.
I find that many of the live chats done by non-real estate companies has not been done very well. However, I have come across a small number that have been done very well and actually answer your questions.
