Well, it is Summertime and one of my favorite things to do is to go to car shows.  Tonight and tomorrow there is a great one on Bountiful's Main Street, and it is for a great cause.  It is the Bountiful Rotary Carshow and Cruisin.  The procedes go to help buy coats for children in need this winter.  This really is a great cause! A few months ago, I did a series of localism blogs about the restaurants in South Davis County.  I will admit to sneaking in a few that were from North Davis County as well.   One our favorite restaurants is the China Star.  It is located at 1177 South 500 West in Bountiful.  I am writing another blog about this gem because they have been adding some new things to their menu.  Namely sushi!  I don't know about anyone else, but I do like sushi. We eat there about once a week, it has sort become of our go to place when neither of us feel like cooking.  We knew that they had been working on bringing in a sushi bar, but we were surprised that it was already done. It has been a busy couple of weeks!  We have been showing homes like crazy!  This is a good thing!  One thing that we have noticed is that homes are beginning to fly off of the market!  There have been several homes that our buyers have been interested in that have gone under contract before we could either view them or put an offer together. Some of the homes have been very good deals, while others not so much, they weren't overpriced, just priced at the top of the market so to speak.  This is a good sign in some aspects, I don't wish to get into a buyer's frenzy like we saw a number of years ago, but it is good to see homes going under contract! Keep in mind the week of April 14 to the 18th for Spring Clean Up.  This is an opportunity to have the city haul away some of the items that they won't pick up with the weekly trash pickup.  Bear in mind that there are some items that the city will not pick up.  Concrete and construction materials will not be picked up, old tires and propane tanks of any kind will not be picked up either.  The landfill will also be free to residents, however the fees remain for concrete and construciton materials.  The landfill is open Monday throughSaturday from 8 AM until 6 PM.  All vehicles need to be out of the landfill at 6 PM. It has been a while since we last ate at Zeponie Pizza, mostly due to my changing what I eat.  Zeponie Pizza does not disappoint!  It is located on Main Street in Bountiful.  Zeponie Pizza has a fun atmophere with the covers of those old movie disc movies.  Some of you may remember the old movie discs, they were the size of the old long playing records, you remember the 12 inch vinyl discs that were replaced by cd's. Many people forget that Utah gained Statehood on January 4, 1896.  Each year our Statehood day passes with little or no fanfare. Years ago, Saint George had a big celebration, but I haven't heard much about that for a number of years.  Whether it is because it falls in the dead of Winter, after the glut of the Holidays or what, it just doesn't seem to be a big deal.  I Think that she looks pretty good for her age! I have been several days since I last wrote a blog about the wonderful restaurants available in the South Davis County area.  Today, I am featuring a wonderful restaurant called Thyme & Seasons.  It is located in Bountiful and is sort of off of the beaten path as far as restaurants go.  It is near the Winegar's Grocery store, but there aren't a lot of restaurants in that area.  When you go, be ready to be amazed!  You should a be ready to get to know Chef Hai, he is the owner of the restaurant.  Thyme & Seasons is also a cooking school.  The food was amazing!  We went at lunch, if you go at lunch realize that there is only one menu.  You get the dinner menu all the time.  If something isn't on the menu, ask Chef Hai, there is a good chance that he will make it for you! Who doesn't love Barbecue?  Well, if you do, this post is for you!  About a week ago Darcy and I tried out a barbecue place in Bountiful, Smokin' Bones.  The food was amazing!  It is a little out of the way, but it was well worth the search!  They smoke their meats on site which makes for extra tasty food! I had the smoked sausage, I will admit I was expecting a commercially produced sausage. I was very surprised, it was a sausage that if it is sold commercially, it was one that I have never found it in a store.  I also sampled the brisket, it was melt in your mouth good!  The one drawback is that if they get busy, they may run out of the more popular items.  They had run out of ribs with a large group that there when we got there. I have written a lot of blogs about Chinese Restaurants in South Davis County. I will admit to two things.  I love Chinese food, and we have a lot of great Chinese Restaurants in South Davis County.   Empire Chines Gourmet is perfect if you're in a hurry, and you feel like trying many different dishes.  It is a buffet, but the food is like any other restaurant. The Empire Chinese Gourmet is located just east of Exit 315 on Interstate 15, across the street from Walmart, it shares the parking lot with Village Inn.  The prices are very reasonable and they are open for lunch and dinner.  It has become one our fall back restaurants, when we can't decide where to go, we end up there.  Empire Chinese Gourmet 12/17/2013

I have mentioned in several blogs that we're blessed here in South Davis County with several wonderful Chinese Restaurants.  I have a hard time trying to decide which one we should eat when we decide to eat Chinese food.  The Ho Ho Gourmet is another of the really excellent Chinese restaurants.  It has been a few days since we last ate at the Ho Ho Gourmet.  The food is excellent!  It is located off of 2600 South in Bountiful.  The prices are very reasonable and the portions are really good.  This is another of the really popular restaurants in the area, if you have to, it is worth the wait!
