Hidden Hollow is a 52 acre park built by Arda Lee in 1945, he opened it to the public in 1970. He had a vision and a dream, but no money to build his dream with. He was often seen bumming items, thus leading to a manmade park. This man-made wonderland is highlighted by natural waterfalls, covered bridges, lakes, and canals and offers a variety of recreational activities including swimming, hiking, fishing, and picnicking.Hidden hollow also has many deer and duck that you can pet as well as feed. The park also offers putt putt and fishing for all ages.  Arda  passed on in 2004,park is now owned by Vince and Amanda Taylor. Under the new ownership the Taylors have planned many new events to breathe new life into the park, such as the park will be hosting a "return to mayberry days" A spec...

Standing Stone State Park is only a short drive from Cookeville. It is worth the time to drive up there and see the beauty of the quiet country. It is one of my favorite places to go. Here is a some information that I got from the website: http://www.tennessee.gov/environment/parks/StandingStone/   Standing Stone State Park covers nearly 11,000 acres on the Cumberland Plateau of north-central Tennessee. The quaint and rustic park is noted for its outstanding scenery, spring wildflowers, fossils and other natural diversity. The park is located in Overton County within a triangle formed by highways connecting Livingston, Gainesboro and Celina, Tennessee. In the 1930's, Standing Stone was an area plagued with soil erosion and sub-marginal lands. With the assistance of the Civilian Conserva...

Parrothead or Parrot Head is a commonly used nickname for fanatics of American singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett Origin The term "Parrothead" began at a Jimmy Buffett concert at the Timberwolf Amphitheater outside Cincinnati, Ohio. At the show, Jimmy commented about everyone wearing Hawaiian shirts and parrot hats and how they kept coming back to see his shows, just like Deadheads. Then Timothy B. Schmit, a former member of the Coral Reefer Band, now a member of The Eagles, coined the term "Parrothead" to describe each of those fans. Ray Davies of The Kinks wrote "Sunny Afternoon" in 1966, and Buffett changed the lyrics to read /Tellin' tales of parrotheads and parties/ on his album Fruitcakes.   Description The common stereotype is of a person wearing a Hawaiian shirt, flip-flops and boa...

Who are we? What do We Do? We are the women in the red & pink hats. We are the mothers, grandmothers, and daughters of society. Little girls grow up, but they're never too old to play dress-up and have tea parties. The standard answer to the question, "What do you do?" is... Nothing. Our main responsibility is to have fun! We see this group as an opportunity for those who have shouldered various responsibilities at home and in the community their whole lives, to say goodbye to burdensome responsibilities and obligations for a little while. This is the place to have fun and enjoy yourself. The refrain of the popular Red Hat Society theme song by Mike Harline puts it rather bluntly: "All my life, I've done for you. Now it's my turn to do for me." We feel like we have all been so dutiful a...
