Next on the stimulus agenda is a rebate on appliances.   The US stimulus bill recently signed into law by US President Barack Obama includes a $300 million provision to fund the Energy Efficient Appliance Rebate Program. The consumer rebate will offset the cost differential between Energy Star and non-Energy Star appliances.   We were winners of a door prize at the RSPS Symposium this past March but we just received our prize. We received phone calls from people that we networked with while we were there that we won a door prize but know one could tell us what we won. We called the people who ran the symposium they called all vendors that had door prizes but know one again knew what we one. Finally a person at Viscape was checking a pair of pants not long ago and found our business card in a pocket. The person who pulled the card thought a PA agent won but could not find the winning card so they gave it to another agent in PA.   Looks like if you are in New York you get an added bonus as a first timer.  First-time home buyers in New York have an added incentive. Thanks to a new tax credit equal to 20 percent of their annual mortgage interest. The New York State Mortgage Credit Certificate, which they say lasts for the life of the loan, is projected to save some borrowers as much as $30,000 over the years. They say eligible buyers must meet income criteria, take out a fixed-rate loan, and occupy the home as their primary residence. Because of the incentive it can be used in conjunction with a federal tax credit of $8,000.
