Tonight is the first night of Passover and Jewish people all over the World will be sitting down with their families and close friends and having a Seder dinner. What is a Seder, you may ask? It is a meal symbolizing freedom from slavery and bondage from Egypt, and each food has its own meaning. It is a tradition celebrated. The Jewish people left Egypt in haste with no time to make bread; therefore, this is why Matzo is unleavened bread. It is the Story of Exodus and there is a plate on the table that each food/herb has a meaning. You will find the story in the Bible. This is a very condensed version of what a Seder dinner is.    This year with all the turmoil in the Mideast let us hope and pray it will be Peaceful

In Philadelphia for a long Weekend ... just a short hour from Ocean City, New Jersey   My wife and I spent 3 days and two nights with friends from Lancaster County at their condominium at "Independence Place" in the Society Hill section of Philadelphia (PA).  It's less than an hour from our home in Ocean City, New Jersey which includes a short haul across the Benjamin Franklin Bridge and just a few blocks to their condo complex.  It's amazing how easy it is to get from our barrier island to the big city ... or the other way as well.  That's why we love Philadelphia here at the shore.  In fact, The Philadelphia Inquirer does very well an hour way here in Ocean City ... and not nearly as well two hours away up in the Chester and Lancaster County areas. Renters Need Good Credit Too ! As a Realtors, some people make the assumption that we have a one track mind when it comes to Real Estate. "Buy! Buy! Buy!" (I quote the words of Jim Cramer.) You know what they say about people who ass-u-me. We actually have a more neutral position. It is just a simple fact of life that people will choose Renting over Owning for many different reasons. I have one more reason to love Northern Liberties, Fishtown, and Old Kensington... the Cornerstone Market ! I was on my way home from a listing appointment with Chris in Fishtown yesterday evening when I realized my cupboard at home was bare. The thought of another night of take-out was less than appetizing to me. So, being the head chef and bottle washer, I stopped into the Cornerstone Market on 19 W Girard Ave. (Leopard St and Girard) to buy a few items for dinner. The location is fantastic since it is literally at the proverbial "cornerstone" (traditionally the north east corner) of where 3 neighborhoods collide, Northern Liberties, Fishtown and Old Kensington. From Renting to Owning in 2 Steps ! Contrary to popular belief, for some people, owning a home is NOT the best choice. Seller Interviews 7 agents to sell his Graduate Hospital property... and the winner is ? Myself !  So now the pressure begins.  A great saying in selling real estate is that the best position is either 1st born, 2nd spouse and 3rd listing agent !  The times I have been the 2nd or 3rd Realtor has been great for by that time, the seller is motivated and the listing price will be more aggressive.  So when you are the 1st Realtor, you want to make sure that the price point is realistic and you have enough time for your duration of the listing contract to sell the property.  Anyways, I am getting a little off tangent here... Can Sugarhouse be like Harrah's Chester Casino & Racetrack ? I had the opportunity to attend a "Shift Into Overdrive" one day real estate seminar as a panel speaker talking about the state of the Philadelphia Real Estate Market this past week.  It was held at Harrah's Chester Casino and Racetrack. I was expecting something dingy and awful.  After all of the anti-casino talk in Philadelphia, I was prepared to be accosted by criminals and had my guard on.  At the very least, after everything I have heard there would be homeless people and all sorts of devastation that surely would make me think twice about having casinos in downtown Philadelphia !! Are you Building Sweat Equity ? Stephanie and I own a triplex in Old Kensington, a very much up-and-coming area of Philadelphia Real Estate.  One of the tenants just recently moved out so we are taking advantage of the opportunity to spruce the place up.  We are having a contractor come by to do some updating with the heating in the next week or so.  At the same time, the basement of the building was very dirty and filled with a lot of old stuff that needed to be tossed.  Stephanie took the initiative to go by the property today and got the basement cleaned out.  We had our clean-out guy meet her there to remove a whole truckload of "stuff".  We will have potential new tenants visiting the property this weekend and if we showed them the basement, it needed to be improved and looking bet...

        Significant for Google as Social Network It has been discovered that Google Profiles are now letting users enable the option to create a vanity URL. In other words, if you check a box, your Google profile page will become htp://www.google.com/profiles/whatever-your-gmail-name-is.     One of the main reasons to use Gmail() over competitive webmail products or a client like Outlook is because of its lightning fast search capabilities. Today, those capabilities are getting a bit of an upgrade, in the form of auto-complete when searching, plus easier options for finding emails with specific attributes like file attachments. This is Will Kane the president of our condo association and his son Danny.They have been working very hard to restore the Asian Gardens located in our Courtyard at Condo section #1 called the GARDENS known for the beautiful flowers and gardens. We have been very fortunate to have a new neighbor John a gardener . He knows how to shape and trim up bushes. Here we are a group of us working hard. Together we can clean up this beautiful Garden that has been neglected for so many years. It was back breaking work.
