I've updated the statistics as the original post has some expired information. Mid South Club is actually in Southern Pines bordering Pinehurst. It is a gated golf community and the clubhouse offers some of the best views in the area. Mid South Club has a clubhouse with a grill and members room and a very nice gathering room for members and guests as well as a golf pro shop. This weekend at  Pinecrest Lee Auditorium the Pinehurst area's theater group "Moore On Stage" will be performing its final production of the season. Pinehurst is surely known for its rich golfing culture - but there is also an abundant population of horse owners and equestrian events in the Pinehurst/Southern Pines Area. Pinehurst has a harness track that is used for training harness race horses in the winter and is also used for a variety of equestrian events such as hunter-jumper shows and dressage shows. There are also a few horse farms in Pinehurst off of Linden Rd just a few minutes from the Village. Around Pinehurst in other communities there are many horse farms. Southern Pines has a well known area called Horse Country and it is partly due to the Walthour Moss foundation which is a charitable trust that holds many acres of land to preserve the environment and provide a place for equestrian activities. The North Carolina Golf Panel released its top 100 golf courses for 2011 and the Pinehurst area has 5 in the top 10 which is another great reason to retire in Pinehurst! Not surprising for most is that the Pinehurst No. 2 golf course is consistently rated #1 for North Carolina golf courses. And with the Men's and Women'ts US Opens coming to Pinehurst in 2014 to play on No. 2 it is unlikely this ranking will change anytime in the near future. As busy as most real estate agents were in March - the Pinehurst area residential sales for April were not reflective of sales resulting it that activity. However - with the lengthy time is takes to close these days we may very well see this activity reflected in May. One of the unusual aspects of this chart is the drop in April sales from March of this year. As long as I have been tracking sales in the Pinehurst/Moore County area there has never been a drop from March to April.  I am not an economist so I can't provide an explanation for this. I am guessing that we are at the bottom of the market and waiting for overall economic conditions to improve.  It could be possible that the rise in gas prices have effected buyers willingness to get back in the real estate market. Pinewild Country Club is a gated community in Pinehurst with many real estate opportunities.Pinewild offers golf front homes - lake front homes - and what we call interior homes. The Seven Lakes Lions Club is holding is 15th annual golf tournament in the Pinehurst Area at the Seven Lakes Country Club. Teams will be made up of four players and it can be a men's team or a women's team or mixed. It will be Captains choice with a Shot Gun start at 1:30 on June 5th. The Seven Lakes Country Club has an 18 hole Tufts designed course and is just 10 miles west of Pinehurst and considered by many one of the areas nicest courses. Come see Vince Gill performing at the Pinehurst Arboretum tonight! Vince Gill is donating his time tonight for a concert in Pinehurst to benefit The First Tee Sandhills organization which provides golf programs to children in the Pinehurst and Sandhills area. Without his generous time being donated - this concert would not be possible according to the events website. The concert will be held at the Pinehurst Arboretum located at 395 Magnolia Rd in Pinehurst. Tickets should be available for all price ranges at the gate. While shopping for homes in Pinehurst two years ago this couple really wanted a 3 car garage or a 2 car plus a golf cart garage. We looked at lots of homes with 2 garages and homes with 3 car garages. The also originally wanted golf front - after all we are in Pinehurst. They found the perfect home. Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw renovated the famous Pinehurst No. 2 golf course to the original look intended by Donald Ross. Pinehurst No. 2 Renovated Just opened this past March the Pinehurst No. 2 golf course is buzzing with news about the new "old" look and tee times are booked weeks if not months in advance. The golf course was renovated to look like it was intended by the original designer Donald Ross. Donald Ross created over 400 golf courses and made Pinehurst his home. Not just for golfers - Pinehurst tennis team clinched the area league yesterday and now will go to the state championships. Pinehurst Tennis Team Legacy As captain I am very pleased that we have clinched the Pinehurst area league tennis for 4.0 Seniors. As most know - Pinehurst is well known for its many golf courses. But there are also many other outdoor sports and activities and Pinehurst has many tennis teams at all different levels. Our senior tennis team will go t the State Championships in early June, and if the adult 4.0 team wins the league, which is quite possible, then this team will be represented in the adult championships which is held every year in Pinehurst. Wine Tasting Fund Raiser in Pinehurst The event will be located at the Fair Barn in Pinehurst at 200 Beulah Hill Rd. next to the harness track. There will be over 100 wines to taste provided by Mutual Distributing Company and appetizers samplers from area chefs and restaurants. This year there will be the addition of a beer tasting in the "Beer Garden". There are always things to do in the Pinehurst area. Tonight is Live After 5 in the Village presented by the Pinehurst Business Guild. Village of Pinehurst This evening, April 21st from 5-9 come to the Village of Pinehurst and enjoy music by The McKenzie Brothers - a local favorite band.  There is no charge for admission. Food and beverages will be available to purchase. All proceeds from tonights event will go to a local charity "Friend to Friend".
