I can't remember what came first the blog contest or the water test on my listing that was supposed to close a week ago. Either way both had me looking under the sink, the test kit actually had me looking in the shed, the closet, my office, tool box until I had an idea! yep there it was the Aqua Chem Chlorine, Bromine and PH test kit that I bought a couple of years ago to try and get another listing that was under contract sold. You see in Wyndfall Subdivision in Clayton, NC most of the homes are on well water and because the whole of Johnston County is covered by the USDA rural loan program, a lot of buyers choose to use the 100% financing that they offer, here's the problem USDA requires a clean well test before they will approve the loan. Guess what? nearly every well out there has s...

Big VIP Event At Portofino To Open The Club House. We had our grand opening of the Club House on Thursday at Portofino Equestrian Community. It was a huge success with lots of big names in Real Estate and Community Leaders. The evening started with Moonshine Martinis at The Red Roof Inn, then we had trolleys ferry folks through the stables and around the pond and on to the Club House.                       We had  Italian themed food set up at the Piazza overlooking the pool. It was great to see so many people enjoy the beauty of Portofino and the response we received was beyond our expectations. We were also able to use the event to tell everyone about our awards we won at the Annual NCHBA Stars Awards. Best Project, for the 22 Stall Horse Barn, Best Web Site, Best Sales Center and the...

Fishing In Clayton North Carolina, Time To Stock Your Ponds   Fish Stocking Day At Hudson's In Clayton North Carolina.                     Here in North Carolina it is very common to see a lot of ponds as you drive around, especially here in Johnston County.   People love to fish and there are plenty of places to do that with rivers, county lakes, but some folks who have the land get a big old pond put in and fish whenever they want.     There is a pond a couple of miles from me and the owner supposedly let anyone fish there so long as you asked so I called him up and he had just stocked it with Stripped Bass and wasn't letting anyone fish until they got big. That was two years ago! I noticed someone fishing there today.           So today I headed off to see what was going on at the Hud...

Downtown Clayton Gained Eight New Businesses Last Year!       I read this and was amazed that Downtown Clayton has added so many new businesses to it's downtown, not because it's not a great downtown just that you would expect stores to be cautious etc with the economy. They did lose four businesses last year June 09 to June 10 The Downtown area has the help of the Clayton Downtown Development Association and any small town like Clayton needs all the help it can get. It is inevitable that as a town like Clayton grows, it grows out wards and the commercial and retail that follows needs lots of land and so builds away from the Downtown area. It order to maintain the character and viability of the downtown area takes a lot of work and commitment on behalf of the town, the Downtown business...

New Food Lion Opens At Riverwood Athletic Community in Clayton NC. It's been a while in the making but the new shopping center across from Riverwood Athletic Club is open for business as of today. The Food Lion is the first store to open and today was opening day. As is to be expected the parking lot was full and there were deals to be had. The store is big and shiny and has nice wide aisles. The produce section looked good as did the meat section. The store is bigger than the other ones in the area and has a decent wine section. The residents of Riverwood Athletic Club must be thrilled to have a supermarket literally within walking distance (there is a sidewalk). So now if you live in Riverwood, you have the fitness center, the pools, the walking trails, Riverwood Elementary School and...
