The short answer to that has to be yes. With prices as low as they have been for a long time if you are looking to invest in multi unit property there are lots of properties to choose from. Barrington does not have any but both Palatine and Arlington Heights have many 5+ units for sale. The lowest price for a 6 block in Arlington Heights is $489,900. Most commonly units are 6 to a block , some have 8 and currently there is a 24 unit in Arlington Heights. If you are considering buying with a mortgage, make sure you talk to a qualified loan officer first. Borrowing to buy multi units of more then 4 units per property, are classed as commercial loans not residential,  and the requirements are totally different.
