Sebastian, Florida  It only hurts when I sneeze (i.e. - see All The Time).Looks like the Florida honeymoon is over - I'm on nature's "list."First I helped the in-laws move a ladder down here on the Treasure Coast of Florida and immediately found out just where my place is on the Food Chain - lunch!  In a celebration of the No-Good-Deed-Goes-Unpunished Principle, I angered a bunch of 'em as I half-dug out their nest moving the ladder, and got a dozen-plus bites on the tender flesh of my left ankle (and other places). Now I don't have allergies, unless it's to this tiny little aggressors.  A few years ago four (4!) fire ant bites swelled and reddened my entire forearm (they almost looked muscular, in a bloated, unhealthy kind of way - a positive side effect for body builders and wimps).  ... 11/05/2007

Sebastian, FloridaAnything out of context - statements, print, even images - can paint any picture the author wants.  The media wants us to feel we should be greatly concerned, that the real estate world is coming to an end, and that there is little or no future for recovery as lender fail and investors bail. Such believers would be personified with this little guy to the right, worried about his financial future as he sees the U.S. economy - and his personal business - grinding to a halt.  No sense working - there's just no business out there.  So they ride the current of bad news to it's self-fulfilling destiny.  He feels blue - and it shows.It's obvious, they'd say, that this little boy knows he will never own a home. Yesterday, Jean and I visited our new grandson by webcam, did some shopping in nearby Melbourne, had dinner at the Olive Garden and stopped to take a walk on the beach on our way home.  As we walked up the beach we saw large tarpon and some other species doing somersaults through schools of bait fish just fifty yards off shore and stopped a while to be awed.  Unfortunately I had not brought a fishing pole. On our way back up the beach, we came across a nest of baby sea turtles clammering out of the sand and stopped till about a hundred of the little guys had safely reached the surf.  Hopefully the fish were so busy feeding on the bait that the baby turtles were able to swim out into the sea without being eaten.  Though we have seen adult turtles nesting on numerous occassions, this was ... 09/10/2007
