St Petersburg Florida's International Folk Festival is running today, November 1 & tomorrow, November 2, 2014. This is the 40th annual SPIFFS and there are 40 countries being represented there this year. We got there just a little after the 10 am opening and made the rounds, checking out all of the various foods that each country had to offer before making any decisions. The eggrolls from Laos were excellent, as there the egg rolls from Thailand. Naturally, Ron tried one of the Indian dishes and I had some perogie from the Ukraine. There were dancers from Thailand, Taiwan, Scottland, Germany and many other nations on the two separate stages. Last week I had the BEST sugar free, gluten free vegan chocolate pie but I have NO idea how to make it! While I did find out that the crust is made from crushed nuts and dates and I have searched the internet to find this wonderful dessert, I guess I am going to have to return to Leafy Greens Cafe in St Petersburg Florida if I want to have it again. Leafy Greens Cafe offers vegan, raw, gluten free and all of their food is wonderful! I had their 'Tacos'. The taco consists of a large romaine leaf that is spread with a wonderful cashew hummus and then topped with guacamole and walnut, along with shredded red and green cabbage, red bell peppers, carrots, cubes of green tomato and red onions. This is topped off with a chipolte cashew dressing that is absolutely amazing! My friend Natalie had their Leafy Greens Salad which consisted of mixed greens, grape tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, sweet baby peppers, raw soaked almonds, avocado and sprouts. La V Vietnamese Fusion Restaurant is located at 441 Central Avenue in downtown St Petersburg Florida. This was my destination for lunch today! I had never been to La V Vietnamese Fusion before but my close friend Natalie has been there several times, so this was a special treat. I had the La V Rolls with peanut sauce and the Da Nang Noodle Soup. Both the rolls and the noodles in the soup are made with rice. From the photos, you can see that this was a hearty meal, full of veggies as well as pork and shrimp. Between this and the Bopa Tea with Taro Fruit, there was no room for anything else! Picasso Is Coming To The Dali - St. Petersburg, FL. Picasso and Dali met in 1926, Dali was 23 years younger than Picasso and in his early twenties. Dali's works were influenced by Picasso's style at the time. They were not close but did remain friends; both had huge egos and were highly competitive.
