The amount of active listings for Whittier Homes has remained unchanged compared to last week, and there were only minor changes within the different price ranges (there were a total of 12 brand new listings, however, the increase is not reflected in the number of active listings due to other homes going into Escrow or being taken off the market). The amount of active Whittier Condo listings has increased by two, bringing the total up to 52. 12/27/10 - Whitter Homes and Real Estate Market Update Whittier Homes for Sale Despite the Holidays, listing activity in Whittier is slightly up this week, taking the total active Whittier listings from 482 to 493. Whittier Home listings rose from 434 to 443 active listings, Whittier Condos increased from 48 to 50 active listings. Take a look at Whittier Homes for Sale by price range! There was a small shift of 1% from active Standard Listings to active Short Sale listings, dropping the Standard listings to 44% (45% last week) and increasing the Short Sale listings to 44% as well (43% last week). Despite the fact that the Whittier Interfaith Food Center was almost 800 toys short for their big Christmas toy give-away just two weeks before the event, the toy drive turned out to be a huge success thanks to the many Whittier community members and organizations who contributed after hearing about the toy shortage. What a wonderful Christmas parade it was this year in Uptown Whittier! 12/12/10 - Weekly Whittier Homes and Condos, Market and Listing Activity Report Take a look at Whittier Homes for sale! Overall, there has not been a change in numbers for total active Whittier Home and Condo listings, the total remains at 475, just as in last week's snapshot. While active Whittier Home listings increased by 4 (from 422 to 426), active Whittier Condo listings decreased by 4 (from 53 to 49). Look at Whittier Homes for Sale by Price Range! Whittier Christmas Parade, Saturday, December 11, 2010, 10am to 12pm This year's theme will be "Community Pride" and it definitely shows in the line-up: Grand Marshal will be James West, CEO of Whittier Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital, and many of Whittier's most prominent organizations are this year's title sponsors (PIH, Bright Health Physicians, Whittier Daily News, Whittier Host Lions Club, Rick's Drive In & Out Burgers, CareMore, to name just a few). Just wanted to give everybody a quick update on the Grand Illumination ceremony on December 3. Rick's Drive In & Out Burgers was packed with fellow Whittierites waiting to see the tree lighting. Before the event, I had a chance to meet the brand new Miss Uptown Whittier, Ariana Rodriguez, who will also be representing Uptown Whittier in this year's Whittier Christmas Parade. Miss Uptown Whittier with Rick of Rick's Drive In & Out Burgers Spectators were also able to see performances by the Whittier Highschool Cheer Team as well as the Whittier High Marching Band. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Uptown Whittier! Besides the beautifully decorated store fronts, Rick's Drive In & Out Burgers iconic Christmas display is a sight not to be missed! And it is also the location for Whittier's Grand Illumination, which will take place this Friday, December 3. The event starts at 6pm, opening with the Whittier High School Marching Band, there will be horse drawn carriages, you can get your picture taken with Santa, and listen to the carolers. The lighting of the 25th Christmas Tree will be at 7pm, and at 8pm, the winners of the Uptown Whittier Window Contest will be announced.
