Despite the fact that the Whittier Interfaith Food Center was almost 800 toys short for their big Christmas toy give-away just two weeks before the event, the toy drive turned out to be a huge success thanks to the many Whittier community members and organizations who contributed after hearing about the toy shortage. What a wonderful Christmas parade it was this year in Uptown Whittier! Overall, there has not been a change in numbers for total active Whittier Home and Condo listings, the total remains at 475, just as in last week's snapshot. While active Whittier Home listings increased by 4 (from 422 to 426), active Whittier Condo listings decreased by 4 (from 53 to 49). Look at Whittier Homes for Sale by Price Range! Whittier Christmas Parade, Saturday, December 11, 2010, 10am to 12pm This year's theme will be "Community Pride" and it definitely shows in the line-up: Grand Marshal will be James West, CEO of Whittier Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital, and many of Whittier's most prominent organizations are this year's title sponsors (PIH, Bright Health Physicians, Whittier Daily News, Whittier Host Lions Club, Rick's Drive In & Out Burgers, CareMore, to name just a few). Just wanted to give everybody a quick update on the Grand Illumination ceremony on December 3. Rick's Drive In & Out Burgers was packed with fellow Whittierites waiting to see the tree lighting. Before the event, I had a chance to meet the brand new Miss Uptown Whittier, Ariana Rodriguez, who will also be representing Uptown Whittier in this year's Whittier Christmas Parade. Miss Uptown Whittier with Rick of Rick's Drive In & Out Burgers Spectators were also able to see performances by the Whittier Highschool Cheer Team as well as the Whittier High Marching Band.
