The Chestermere Agricultural Society is presently organizing its 20th Annual Country Fair for Friday, September 18th, Sneak a Peak from 6 – 10 pm and Saturday September 19th from 10 – 5 pm. We are sponsoring free movie nights for teens.  We  had a problem getting a place to show them as the library has limited hours.  Our town council has been kind enough to open the large foyer area so that we can show them there.  Doug and I bought the rights from ACF films to show pre-release movies to the public, so the kids would be able to go to a movie right here in Chestermere.  We are showing Knowing, a thriller with Nicholas Gage on the 11th and Push another thriller on June 18,  On the 11 the movie will be shown from 6 to 8 pm. and on the 18th from 8 to 10 pm.  These are pre-release movies, so they are still fairly new, they have not been released to the video stores or cable TV. There is no charge for this YELL  (Youth Encouraging Lasting Leadership) event.

One would think that with digital cameras it would not be too difficult to get new photos posted that don't have snow on them.  Particularily with the primary photo, as it is the first photo they see.  When buyer's see a home with snow on it they know that it has been on the market for a while.  They will assume that there is something wrong with it.  With so many homes on the market it is easy to just go to the next photo that has green grass and shows the landscaping.  Your clients will appreciate the effort if you take the time to go out and take new photos.  Perhaps they will even take them for you and email them to you so you can uplaod them to mls. One of our past clients called today to tell us about a project that they are building in Mexico near Le Paz Mexico.  Deborah & Rick Iwaszkiw  of Chestermere Lake are developing a 36 lot project ocean view on the sea of Cortez.  Lots are $35,000 us and it will cost about $85/ foot to build.  If you  thought that a nice retirement home was going to cost too much, have a look at their website.  http://canamexbuilders.com/.  There are maps, photos and cost of living estimates there. RE/MAX is Chestermere's Top Real Estate company.  The stats are out and it looks like RE/MAX is in the lead.  In fact RE/MAX realtors sell about 23.6% of the market.  In second place MaxWell had 17% of the market.   Doug and I sold about 10% of the market and we moved from owning our own MaxWell Franchise to RE/MAX Lakeside in Chestermere in August last year.  (We wanted to spend more time selling and less time doing administration.)  So it will be interesting to see how the figures will change in 2009.  Likely RE/MAX will increase it's market share in Chestermere to be closer to the 34.7% share that they have in Calgary.
