Good question. One obvious answer is because they make $$$ doing it.

Because Realtors like it.

Even in the bold face of reality, that the property ends up on zillow and we report 90% of buyers begin their search on ZILLOW (internet) REALTORs continue to pay to play....and like it!

We have fallen in love with an idea whose time is coming to an end. The only one who seems to not know this is....well, you get my point.

Because they can. They see us as cows waiting to be milked. Inadvertantly break one of the idx rules and we get fined while the big guys steal our content and nothing gets done.

Good question. Shouldn't LA receive some sort of royalty fee?

IDX is included in our board fees.  The fees did not increase when they added IDX.

From what I have seen, you are paying the IDX company for their feed, backend support, wordpress widget and the hefty licence fee for the feed from the MLS.

My board provides a basic, P.O.S. IDX search feed for free to all agents.  Not worth the price it costs.

I have always wondered this too. There are many different types & my MLS only charges a complete minimum of like $5-6 per month.  If you use their landing page, website, etc the price goes up from there.

But essentially - it's a link so why pay? You are already paying for MLS access right?

Your best friend who just happens to be a Realtor

I think that now at least here, our MLS only sends to Realtor.com. The other sites are getting the feed from my broker, at least that is what I understand is the arrangement since Listhub stopped sending to the others.
