For an everyday vehicle my favorite has been the Toyota Camry 4 cylinder. Great mileage, big enough for 5 adults and their gear, very dependable, actually never had a breakdown and reasonably priced wear and tear items are readily available everywhere. Had two of them with another Camry, Corolla and Solara in the family but the Camry was the most versatile. A Honda Accord experiment is underway but it doesn't match the reliability.
