anne arundel county schools: Back to School in Crofton, Maryland - 08/24/14 06:39 AM
If you don't have any school-age children in your household, you may not realize that most Anne Arundel County students in grades 1-9 will start school tomorrow, August 25, 2014.
Crofton Elementary is the only local school where opening is delayed, but just one day until August 26, when the high school students will also start school. Kindergarteners have a staggered schedule until after Labor Day.
Expect slight delays in getting to work as school buses and carpools are on the road again, after a two-month hiatus. Those pesky crossing-guards will be out in force, too.
Take care, and allow a little extra time when you leave … (4 comments)

anne arundel county schools: Real Estate Q&A - What School Will My Child Attend? - 09/19/13 11:21 PM
Real Estate Q & A:
What School Will My Child Attend when I Buy That House? A military family who will be relocating to the D.C. Metropolitan area in 2014 contacted me with this question.
They've already talked to friends in this area and done a ton of research online, which helped them narrow down their home search in this huge metropolitan area to a certain few zip codes. Number One on their search criteria: Crofton or Central Middle School and South River High Schools.  (Photo: Crofton Middle School)
Based on my local knowledge, I realized they had inadvertently excluded several … (8 comments)

anne arundel county schools: Crofton Maryland School Raises $17,000 for Cystic Fibrosis - 05/29/08 01:22 AM

When a Crofton real estate agent writes about the schools, it's usually about school rankings or test scores, new equipment or facilities, career accomplishments of teachers or academic achievements of students.  It's rarely because of their philanthropy!
But then, how many public elementary schools raise over $17,000 for medical research?  That's exactly what they did at Crofton Elementary School on Duke of Kent Street this year.
Their "Coins for Kids" campaign raised $3,294,43.  But their BIG fundraiser was a "Hop-A-Thon" which raised $14,000 for Cystic Fibrosis.  The community is very proud of them, and so is Governor Martin O'Malley … (10 comments)
