If you go to one of the squares in The Villages, Florida to listen to the band don’t be surprised to see a group of line dancers already there dancing in unison.  Most of the time the core group are students of the many line dancing classes held regularly in The Villages.  One of my first visits to Spanish Springs Town Square around 2009 I heard for the first-time Bryson Bernard’s Cupid Shuffle and watch about 100 people take to the dance floor and line dance.  I was amazed and had to ask and that is when I first learned about the line dancing craze in The Villages.Today when the band takes a break the sound guy plays Cupid Shuffle, Macarena and a few other songs for the line dancers and they don’t stop.  When I am hosting a party, and playing music if I want to get people up and dancin...

I have to admit that we inhabitants of the Northern States go a little crazy when the weather breaks, even for a day.We try to get so much in on those first warm days we probably look like this:Now that I think about it I had my first hart attack on one of those days. My wife reminded me that I had done a lot of out door chores including washing all three of our cars that day. From December to the "real" spring you will find on any fair day you will see people out on motorcycles, walking in shorts and halter tops even if the temp is just 25 to 30 degrees as long as the sun is shinning.

I had such a busy day today that I wasn't able to post until this evening. I couldn't let Timmothy's cartoon pass buy. It was a good day but very busy. The highlight of my work day was helping a military couple close on their new home in Louisiana. Louisiana requires witnesses on their mortgage paperwork so my son Timmothy acted as one and my wife Carol the other.  Being we were all together and I interrupted Carols day I took her and Timmothy out for lunch.

.  After a 3.5 hour drive to Bergen County , NJ , wechecked into our hotel and were Starving ! We asked the Front Desk for recommendations. They replied go to Roxanne’s ! My wife and I love ItalianRestaurants and Roxanne’s was up for the challenge. The atmosphere is very cool ! We sat in the area where their Brick Pizza Ovens were located ( and they made quite a few pizzas while we were there ).After realizing we liked almost everything on the Menu , be both decided on Veal . The quality of Vealthat you are served tells you a lot about the place .My Veal Marsala did not disappoint and was covered with Mushrooms ! The Pizzas sitting all around us ,were NY Style -Thin Crust Pizza ( our favorite). And yes once again on our tour of Bergen County we couldn’t resist their Dessert Menu ! Needle...

.   Several weeks ago we were in Bergen County,NJ which is very close to the NY State Line . We toured a number of small towns , Franklin Lakes, Mahwah ,and Wyckoff . The Brick House Restaurant was our choice for a late Lunch . It is a popular historic placeright in downtown Wyckoff.  Elegance is the best way to describe the Brick House . We were served a number of courses ! The waiters wore traditional white uniforms. The wine selections were well matched with what was served ! It was really hard to make a Lunch selection with all the great choices being offered . All of this was topped of with a Dessert Plate full of small homemade cakes . The Dinning Rooms were ornate showing a rich history . This is a must Go To if you are in Bergen County .

Growing up in England, April fools was a big thing, everyone got into it, and I remember two particular April Fools Jokes. The first was an advertisement from Guinness, that encouraged you to cut out the advertisement and put it on the inside of a glass, as they had impregnated the paper with a free beer. I don't know how many people fell for that, but it made me laugh. The second was a television program about the Spaghetti Harvest and I include the excerpt below. Enjoy.I think this worked because people did not travel as they do now, and foreign foods were still "foreign" so shortly after the war.Image courtesy of phasinphoto at FreeDigitalPhotos.net.

Motivational Monday…It’s Up to You There are countless quotes and anecdotes to remind us of the importance of our attitude.  This post is yet another one.  Short story…for our Easter family gathering, I found out on Easter morning that there would be 3 more attending. My knee-jerk reaction was … “What…you couldn’t have told me earlier?!”  And then, I took a deep breath and realized I needed an attitude adjustment.  I decided to channel my grandmother whose attitude was There’s always room for more.”Having 33 or 30 for dinner made very little difference. I always have more than enough “goodie bags” for the children. And no one goes away hungry. So after my knee-jerk reaction slinked back into the black hole it came from, I made a choice…MY CHOICE to not let my attitude ruin my, or my gu...

The lasagna was great! Now six hours later and a couple of walks with the dog I'm still stuffed, so for diner tonight we are doing popcorn. As many of you know we once had guinea pigs in our house and my daughter liked dressing them up. I've always liked these Easter pictures of them. As you know Timmothy also loved these two guinea pigs as he has made them the focus of his cartoon strip which appears in news papers as well as me posting one here on Active Rain every week day.Happy Easter to all.
