It is Sunday, and have a list of things to complete today!   Back home, and being home feels very good.  As they say - always fun to go on vacation, but coming home feels good too!     Mother Nature is giving Denver no breaks, LOTS of snow, and more coming tomorrow into Tuesday.   The snow from 12/29 hasn't melted, which is very unusual! Will have to think about taking the kitties to the kennel in the future.   Lucy was so freaked out when I picked her up, I was seriously worried.   She HOWLED, and she doesn't do that.    They paced around the house when we got home for hours, like they were in a new place.  Maybe they just wanted to be sure everything was in its place.   They are back to normal now.    In fact, Lucy went into stalk mode at the slider, and had to look out, the squirrel ...

It's 25 degrees out, time to change the oil. It's what dads do for their daughters, even when they are 22 years old and can afford to have oil change people do it. This oil change is special because I will be handing Tina here keys back after her tour overseas in the US Airforce National Guard. We don't know the exact date (it's against military policy to announce a troop change) but she should be home, right here in our house, with-in 10 days.I'm not much of a mechanic but I can, and do, still change oil on all the families automobiles. I just can't pay someone $100.00 for an oil change, even if there are piles of snow next to me on the ground, when I can do it for a fraction of the cost and do it in 30 minutes or less time.

As sunshine has returned to Los Angeles, I had to reflect and enjoy the real sunshine vs. the liquid sunshine. Most of you are familiar with the term “Texas- sized”? Well, if you are not, let me share, we consider this definition as ’bigger than anywhere else’. Now with that said we have had ‘Texas sized rain’ here in the Greater Los Angeles area for a while now. Most of us were thrilled to get the H2O.Every time it rained, I would say to Diane: “Good for the grass, good for the citrus” this has been a standard bantering for the past seven or eight years. Needless to say, the past few years less than normal, due to the lack of rain.As most of you know this year was an exception. We had over 18 inches of rain already. This past storm clearly set new records for precipitation in the Greate...

This Week…Time for Hugs This week, Larry and I had lunch with our friend of over 40 years. She and her husband were our first neighbors in our first home.A hug is like a boomerang -you get it back right away. Bil Keane Our husbands had the same birthday though many years apart. Their first child also shares their birthday. We spent many Friday night happy hours together in one or the other’s homes.  Laughing together is as close as you can get to a hug without touching.  Gina Barreca This Monday is the anniversary of Glen’s death in a terrible car accident…he was not much over 40. There isn’t a day or week that goes by when I don’t think of him. One thing that stands out was his hugs. Where I live if someone gives you a hug, it’s from the heart. Steve IrwinThey weren’t the cursory hug a...

I posted the following on January 19, 2011:Seems like yesterday I was planning for the new year. Now I am preparing for the second month of the year! Luckily this year productivity is up which makes it easier to be positive and optimistic. February is shaping up to be a better month than January. So now for the affirmation of the day: "Seek not the wisdom to know the difference, seek the wisdom to make a difference." Enjoy the day! What has changed is that I have fully retired and productivity is no longer an issue. But the affirmation of "seek not the wisdom to know the difference, seek the wisdom to make a difference " remains in play!It is great to look back and see what still applies! Enjoy your day.

I love Seafood ! I will drive miles to get fresh Sea Food . One of my favorites is Crab . In 12th grade, oneof my best friends ( who grew up in Baltimore) taughtme how to take apart and what to eat with a Hard Shell Blue Crab . He also insisted to stick with male crabs .       So what is my problem with Crab Cakes ? Many Restaurants I go to say Crab Cakes are our specialty.”We are known for our Crab Cakes “ . In both cases I’m stoked ( with anticipation) . And while I always enjoy Crab , I’m usually disappointed.       Why you say ? You see I’ve been to LinthicumHeights ,MD 21090 ! I have experienced 9oz. Crab Cakes with No Filler ! But I still have a problem ! You see there are TWO Restaurants in walking distance that serve these amazing Crab Cakes - G & M and Olive Grove .The R...

We live along several miles of Woods and a Tributary ( that as wide as a River) . My Black Lab ,Tucker is always ready to navigate his walks into the Woods. We have a well maintained & mulched pathway along the Conestoga River. We see all types of birds, squirrels, deer and egrets . But there’s one character that always lets us know he is there .         You guessed it the Woodpeckers, busy peckingon trees along our trail . The other creatures attempt to stay out of our way , but not Woody . He is determined to make sure we know these are his trees ! Well in late December we had a Cold Wave for 7+ days and stayed out of the Woods . Woody seemed to miss us because I was awakened by himknocking on our Sunroom’s exterior wall ! He continued this for a second day until I got his mes...

4 Cloud Storage Security Tips   As a real estate professional, you likely sync your data via cloud storage to several of your electronic devices so you can have access to your videos, documents, and photos from anywhere and on any device. While cloud storage provides numerous benefits, it does open up the possibility of someone else accessing your information. Follow these four security tips to protect your data. Use two-factor authentication. Enabling two-factor authentication means that unwelcome visitors will be unable to access your files even if they know your username and password. To gain access, you'll receive a private code on your phone. Utilize strong passwords. Encryption doesn't protect your information if you have a compromised account, so use strong passwords with ...

Winter; Here comes the White Walker  As the winter months approach, it’s important that we understand the dangers of it. Whether we love or hate the pretty snow, 62% of homeowners who suffered winter weather damage will still be dealing with the consequences for a while.Luckily, there are things you can do to prevent a lot of that damage. If you’re looking to prep for winter, we have you covered. Here’s our essential winter home maintenance checklist for the year.1. Insulate Your PipesYour water pipes are not strong enough to withstand the transition from liquid water to ice. Water expands when it freezes with tremendous force that can overpower most residential pipes. To prevent this, you need to insulate them, especially at their most sensitive points, which are outside and close to i...
