This week someone posted an article on LinkedIn about a project I worked on about 15 years ago in my capacity as a manufacturing engineer.  The project was in Buffalo NY and involved frequent trips from Cincinnati to Buffalo.  To put it mildly, the project was technologically challenging and a bit of a morale buster.  Scrap rates were high, line shutdowns were frequent, and the support wasn't 100% of what was needed.  Ultimately the product was transferred to another site, the device redesigned, but still was terminated. Were lessons learned?  Yes.Were all the lessons that needed to be learned, learned?  Meh.Personally I learned quite a bit during the weeks and weeks I spent on site supporting production, and a lot of those lessons are universal.1.  No matter how good your team is,  proc...

Hindsight is very revealing for improving on one's journey & prospects. It teaches us what works, what doesn't & something not talked about enough i.e. ignorance of the self. Stop to consider your journey from (?) up until the now (reading this). Not only is it remarkable, but it was unplanned. We were a part of the past while journeying to the present, but we did not know that until revealed afterwards. Why? We lived that prior life thus revealing its history not just existed in itTHE TRUTH of the MATTERLet's start out by putting in its place, the clever lie that makes the rounds & disrupts if we let it. Should have, could have & would have will now be brought into the light of exploration (reality). Why? For a very good reason that will followTAKE THE MOMENT YOU ARE IN RIGHT NOW. You ...

Do You Know Why It's Important to Save the Worms? When we think of saving the environment, we often focus on big, majestic creatures like whales, tigers, or eagles. But there’s another tiny hero beneath our feet that plays a crucial role in keeping our planet healthy—worms. These little soil-dwellers might not be the most glamorous creatures, but they are essential to life as we know it.Nature’s Unsung RecyclersWorms, especially earthworms, act as nature’s recyclers. They break down organic matter like leaves, dead plants, and food scraps, turning them into rich, fertile soil. This process, known as composting, helps gardens and farms thrive. Without worms, soil would lose its nutrients, making it harder to grow food.Improving Soil HealthWorms improve soil structure by aerating it as the...

Good afternoon and hello there again from Tim.  HAPPY ST PATRICK'S DAY.   Hope this email finds you doing well this Monday and enjoyed the weekend.  Wanted to share Tim's Time Outs again with you. REFLECTION FOR THE DAY:   We may not know any specifics about the activities of today;  we may not know whether we'll be alone or with others.  We may feel the day contains too much time-or not enough.  We may be facing tasks we're eager to complete, or tasks we've been resisting.  Though the details of each person's day differ, each person's day does hold one similarity;  We each have the opportunity to choose to THINK POSITIVE  thoughts.  The choice depends less on your outside activities than on your inner commitment. It's time for me to realize that my ATTITUDE-in life and the people in it...

Senior Citizen Quotes to Inspire and UpliftAging is a journey filled with wisdom, laughter, and the beauty of experience. For many, growing older is not just about adding years but about embracing the richness of life. Here are some quotes about aging that offer inspiration, encouragement, and a touch of humor.“Do not grow old, no matter how long you live. Never cease to stand like curious children before the great mystery into which we were born.” — Albert EinsteinEinstein reminds us that curiosity and wonder have no age limit. Staying engaged with the world keeps the spirit young. “Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.” — Mark TwainThis classic quote captures the power of a positive mindset when it comes to aging. “You are never too old to set anot...

Understand Your Tax SituationFirst things first, you got to know what's going on with your taxes. I remember when I was deep in it, feeling overwhelmed just trying to get all my paperwork sorted. Start by collecting your W-2s, 1099s, and any other relevant documentation. This way, you’re not just throwing darts in the dark when trying to figure out your tax status. But trust me, don’t stop there! You got to dig deeper. You’ll need records of any previous IRS correspondence or notices you've received. The more you know about your past dealings, the better prepared you’ll be to tackle the current situation.Lastly, try to understand the type of tax you owe. If you’re behind on income taxes, it's different than if it’s payroll taxes or business taxes. Get familiar with the lingo to empower y...

We are shaped by people and experiences throughout our lives. In the March ActiveRain challenge hosted by Lew Corcoran and Patricia Faeger, we are asked to share the profound impact someone had on you in shaping you into who you are today. If you want to know why I am the way I am today, it is largely due to how My Parents Shaped Who I Am Today, they set a strong foundation. The experiences I had, the things I feared, the things I loved, and how throughout my life I emerged from the "Dark Night of the Soul" experiences also shaped me into who I become. While the term may mean different things to people, my reference here is in the spiritual sense. "The "dark night of the soul" refers to a phase of deep spiritual crisis or emotional turmoil, often characterized by feelings of despair and a...

“Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness.”      Desmond TutuI read this quote, and it immediately resonated with me. It speaks to the quiet strength that lives within us, especially during life’s most difficult seasons. Hope isn’t about denying the presence of darkness, it’s about believing that light still exists, even when it’s hard to see. I think many of us have experienced moments like that, times when life felt heavy, yet somehow, we held onto the belief that there was light at the end of the tunnel. It’s the steady whisper that reminds us, the sun will rise again, even after the longest night. It’s what carries us through uncertainty, grief, disappointment, or fear.Hope doesn’t always roar. Sometimes, it’s just a flicker, a gentle glow in the dist...

“Here’s to strong women: may we know them, may we be them, may we raise them.” — UnknownMy mother was a huge influence on the woman I am today. She lived with quiet strength, fierce determination, and a deep well of practical wisdom that shaped our home and my life.Growing up, she was our very own Betty Crocker—following recipes, inventing her own, and creating magic in the kitchen. As a Home Economics graduate, her skills were evident in every corner of our home life. She managed the family budget with care, made sure our meals were balanced and nutritious, and nurtured our bodies and souls with home-cooked meals. Our backyard garden was something out of a storybook—rows of corn, lettuce, radishes, tomatoes, green beans, spinach, asparagus, peas, cucumbers, and carrots. We all pitched i...

Memories of Halcyon: A Love Letter to My Childhood Home''HALCYON DefinitionA period of time in the past, that was happy and peaceful.I’d like to tell a story about my HALCYON days. My parents bought this property five months before I was born. So I lived here all my life until I went off to college. Then soon after that, I married, but did not move too far.''   My early recollections are of being outside all the time playing in the spring, summer, and fall, and sledding in the winter time. We didn’t have air-conditioning so we played outside all day. And we were very creative when playing outside.  We made tree forts on the ground, inside the pine trees. We had a playhouse that my Grandfather and my Dad and my Uncle built when I was five years old that still stands on the property today...
