  Ice Sculpture Displays from the Greenbrier’s 3rd Annual Winterfest Event It was indeed a cold weekend for The Greenbrier’s 3rd Annual Winterfest featuring the amazing National Ice Carving Association Competition!   I arrived at the competition on Saturday around 4:30 pm and believe me …. it was cold!   How cold was it?  All I can say using my smartphone camera and iPad camera and walking around to take photos of the completed ice sculptures, my fingers were numb!  Once back in the car, my fingers were burning and tingling.  I don’t know how the ice sculptors can do such an amazing and unbelievable job making the ice blocks come alive with such creative magical art.The competition started on Friday, January 25, at 6:00 pm with the Speed Carving Competition:  Carvers had 15 minutes to c... 01/27/2013

    The Almost Heaven Habitat for Humanity entered a Christmas float for the White Sulphur Springs Christmas parade.  Habitat's lighted tree was made with a ladder, and tools hooked on the ladder that one would use to build a house.....such a  creative idea!     Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Almost Heaven Habitat for Humanity's new office space  in White Sulphur Springs, WV                  On December 1, 2012, Almost Heaven Habitat for Humanity held a ribbon cutting ceremony at their newer, expanded Greenbrier County office located at 39 West Main Street in White Sulphur Springs. Participating in the actual cutting of the ribbon were most of the Habitat team who regularly work in Greenbrier County. They are: John Petty, Special Projects Manager.     Habitat’s Inaugural Black Friday Build was a big success with 23 Volunteers Twenty-three Volunteers joined Almost Heaven Habitat for Humanity the day after Thanksgiving for their inaugural Black Friday Build.  Instead of shopping at a Mall, they worked at the Summer Elms Worksite!  The doors opened at 7:00 am and the first volunteers at the site "rushed" the houses in search of hidden treasures ….. vouchers for gift cards and products donated from local businesses.   The volunteers finished painting the second coat on the inside of Lot 2, the home of Kristina Shirley. They also put up drywall in Lot 3, the home of Patricia Sams. A group of volunteers also worked on the foundation of Lot 5, installing the remaining insulated concrete forms.
