  The Greenbrier’s Chocolate Easter Displays & the famous Greenbrier Easter Egg FEST   In celebration of Easter, The Greenbrier, unveiled two holiday-themed chocolate displays this weekend made up of nearly 1,000 pounds of dark, milk and white chocolate. Construction of the displays was led by the resort’s Executive Pastry Chef Jean-Francois Suteau and his team, who started the process in the first week of January.     The Greenbrier’s upper lobby features a 150-pound display of chocolate golden eggs,                 while the lower lobby houses various chocolate statues and figurines,       which all together weigh in at a total of 700 pounds—including a six-foot-tall chocolate rabbit, 400 small chocolate eggs and 280 chocolate chicks.   The Greenbrier's Easter Chocolate Display Unveiling   If you remember, the Greenbrier put up a fantastic chocolate display for Christmas this past year, and will be doing the same for Easter.     Chef Suteau and his team of 3 pastry chefs have been working since January building a massive display. It will include 280 chicks, a 6 foot rabbit, two 5 foot tall chickens, four 30 pound eggs, 400 small eggs, and one cracked egg full of jelly beans for a jelly bean guessing contest. Plus there will be a display of golden eggs in our upper lobby as well.       The Greenbrier unveils new, state-of-the-art tennis stadium   The Greenbrier announced today that their Tennis Pro Emeritus, Pete Sampras, will take on eight-time tennis Grand Slam winner, Andre Agassi, at the grand opening of Center Court at Creekside on June 20th, 2015.   Tennis Hall-of-Famer and 14-time Grand Slam winner, Pete Sampras, made his debut at The Greenbrier in 2012 at the inaugural Greenbrier Champions Tennis Classic.   Call for Volunteers for the 2015 Greenbrier Classic     The 2015 Greenbrier Classic will be held on The Old White TPC Course at The Greenbrier Resort on June 29-July 5, 2015.       While the popularity of The Greenbrier Classic continues to grow, this event would not be as successful without the help of over 1,400 volunteers that participate each year.   Registration is now available for new and returning volunteers, for people of all ages. The committee descriptions that are found on The Greenbrier Classic website, will help you to determine the area in which you would like to volunteer.   Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony 2014 at the Greenbrier   On Saturday, December  6, my husband and I visited the Greenbrier for the Community Tree Lighting Ceremony. The holiday events at the Greenbrier put everyone in the Christmas spirit.  The carolers were the Greenbrier's Springhouse Entertainers and sung many favorite holiday tunes, while visitors enjoyed complimentary hot chocolate or apple cider and fresh-baked cookies while we waited for Santa to arrive and light the Christmas Tree.   And then, and then came the horses with a large sleigh and Santa waving to all.  Santa, the one and only Jim Justice, owner of the Greenbrier, was all dressed up in his red suit for the occasion.  With the children beside him, Santa walked over to the very large tree and at the count of ten....th... 12/08/2014
