Greenbrier Episcopal School (GES) had its Tenth Annual Auction held at the West Virginia Osteopathic Medical School, Lewisburg, West Virginia.  The theme for the night was "A Black Tie Affair".  GES provided free champange for the event.  Each table had bottles of wine to go with a delicious meal prepared by Blackwell's Restaurant.  This event is always so much fun.  My husband and I have attended 3 out of 4 years since moving to Lewisburg in 2005.  At the registration desk, you receive a program that contains your bidder number to bid on both silent and live items.  There were 30+ tables for the silent auction items.  Items by category were: Kids Stuff - Nine items, such as, snowshoes; one-year YMCA membership; denim bean bag chair with an IPod; an 8GB Generation 2 Apple; There were 15... 05/17/2009

  For months now, people in the area have been talking about the Greenbrier Resort and the financial problems.  It was a known fact that Marriott International, Inc., was really interested in buying the resort.  But, today we heard different.....a West Virignia businessman buys the Greenbrier Resort, located in White Sulphur Springs, WV.  Jim Justice, Lewisburg, WV, is the new owner of The Greenbrier Resort.  Jim  is one of the most successful business people in West Virginia, growing coal and agriculture businesses that have made him a millionaire many times over.  Last month, Greenbrier Hotel Corp. filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization, citing the weak economy and its toll on luxury travel. Starting @ 5:00 P.M. this evening  downtown White Sulphur Springs was transformed to a busy and fun shared event for everyone. This Third Friday Event focused on the west end of town. Just a few of the local estabishments open for the extended evening hours event were. I attended the Greenbrier Clinic's Business After Hours of the Greater Greenbrier Chamber of Commerce.  My husband and I have always wanted to go to the Clinic since moving to Lewisburg, WV, in 2007.  The Clinic, formed in 1948, is located in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, and is absolutely top shelf.  It is decorated so nice, walking down the halls, you don't feel like it is a Clinic.  Of course, you know it would be top shelf, since it is part of the Greenbrier Resort. The Greenbrier Clinic is located in the West Virginia wing of the five-star Greenbrier Resort and Conference Center. One of the things I love about living on the East Coast is that I'm a short drive to the beach, the mountains, skiing, and lot of other activities. Yes, it's a drive, but it's nice to have all of the resources closeby.  After much hard work selling my previous home, buying a new home, and getting settled in, my family decided it was time for a break.  I'd actually made reservations back in August for a ski trip prior to realizing that we would be moving.  I'm also a big believer in working hard and playing hard too so it was time for a break!
