Down the Lazy River!  A Hot Weather Adventure in Harper's Ferry, WV In a couple of months, it'll start to get nasty here in Washington, with the air getting so humid you can almost swim through it.  And as the hot and sticky summer days approach, and it's time to start finding relief, Harper's Ferry, WV is a great place to start. At Harper's Ferry, Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland all come together, and the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers meet. The town itself is charming and picturesque, with old historic buildings and homes that make you want to knock on their doors to see what's inside.  Well, some will actually let you in the door, as many are set up as museums.  But the cure for hot sticky summer days is down on the water, where there are rafts and tubes just everywhere! If you'r...

Tuesday's Trip - Harpers Ferry, WV We took a couple days and got away.  We didn't go far, we went to Harper's Ferry in West Virginia.  Harper's Ferry is only about an hour and half from our home in the Towson area so it's easily a day trip but we made it an overnight voyage.  Harpers Ferry is the site of one of the major battles during the Civil War and changed sides upwards of eight times through the War.  Because of it's location at the confluence of the Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers the area was very important to both the Union and the Confederate Army's.  This past weekend was the 150th Anniversary of the Battle at Bolivar Heights.  In celebration of that Park Rangers from the National Park Service re-enacted some of the events and gave demonstrations of artillery.  During the summe...

"Almost Heaven ~ West Virginia" It's true.....it is almost heaven in West Virginia, along the Potomac River.  I'm so happy to bring this photo to you.  It is one of the first that I have taken with my new Nikon high definition Coolpix S4100 camera.  I feel like the ripples across the river are within my reach, don't you?  (no, this is not a commercial for Nikon, but I've got to tell you -- it takes much, much clearer photos than my old camera) I cannot wait to take new, updated photos of all of listings!  The new HD images will feature these properties oh-so-much-better!  I believe my clients will be very, very pleased. In the meantime, enjoy this beautiful blast from the past.........

I Found A Little Pink House in West Virginia!  I just returned from a trip to Maryland and West Virginia with my mom, Mary Jane Scruggs.  She will turn 80 in September so it seemed fitting to take a trip down memory lane with her.  There are many stories to tell about the various towns and childhood memories that Mom shared with me this week.  For instance, I took a touching picture of Mom sitting on the steps of her elementary school.  I promise I'll post it a little later this week. In the meantime, I wanted to show you an adorable little house that is located just outside of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia.  The first thing I noticed was the pink color.....the second thing was that it is a 'Women's Club' house.  I'm a member of the Pennsville Women's Club, so I recognized the insignia ...

Harpers Ferry is lovely little town nestled in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of West Virginia.  The city continues to embrace its historic ties to the Civil War.  Many of the homes in the city date back to antebellum times and have been made into beautiful bed and breakfasts.  Mother Nature truly blessed this area as well.  The gorgeous Harpers Ferry National Park surrounds Harpers Ferry, preserving its natural beauty for generations to see.  And don't be fooled by the small stature of Harpers Ferry.  There are plenty of things to keep you occupied.  If you are a nature lover, there is much more to view than the Harpers Ferry National Park.  Take a hike along the Appalachian Trail Conference or the C&O Canal Towpath.  Go tubing or kayaking along the Potomac River, the same river th...
