 Og Mandino is one of the best authors I have ever had the chance to read. Og Mandino  also wrote an amazing book called "The Greatest salesman in the World." Mr. Mandino had an amazing way with words and is brutally honest in his books. In his book "The Return of The Ragpicker" a friend of his that is extremely street smart has Og Mandino take notes one day and had Og Mandino put it all to writing. Okay, our lunch choices in Oconomowoc is not bad. I love Sweetie Pies, downtown. Spinnakers has a nice porch, and view of Lac LaBelle. Winesteins is great for salads and wraps. But for real Italian food, you can't beat Porticello's on Silver Lake. Until last week, they opened at 4:00 pm. Now they open at 11:00 am during the week!! Be still my heart. I can get my eggplant fix early now. I heard their lunch prices are excellent. Lasagne for $4.00? Don't quote me, I'm not a lasagne eater. But give me those vegetables...it's a different story. There is a term in the music industry called "testing for echo". Echo can be a real nuisance in a recording studio, on a stage it can give you real havoc and hence the use of a good monitor or monitors is crutial, and over all echo, outside of reverb or feedback can create problems. Similar to real estate echo and the sense of talking falling on deaf ears, or thinking that there is an echo in the room seems a little more prevalent these days. It's the end of an era, and the beginning of a new one. Our youngest, my nephew, is graduating high school. It will be another generation before I see another one. Or visit the school to pick him up from the sick room. The next time I go to Oconomowoc High School will be to vote -- or visit the new theatre. Oconomowoc has always been dedicated to the cultural arts. We have an impressive art gallery and store downtown, a local theatre arts group and live theatre, organized concerts at different venues, and of course, the VFW band plays at the band shelter. Friday, June 5, was a beautiful day for the Fowler Lake walk. It's about a 40 minute walk around the lake. (Unless my sister is walking with us- then it's 50 minutes.) We started at Memorial Park, off Lac LaBelle. Do you ever notice the historical marker there? I didn't. So we started to go counter-clockwise around the lake, starting on the Lac LaBelle side. Gorgeous homes are everywhere. My sister is a nut for gargoyles, and there are a few of them guarding a home. Now you know why it takes us so long to walk around. After the bridge,we cross the street and walk on the east side of the road, where the houses are on Fowler Lake. Okay. My sister helps them with the layout of the quarterly newsletter. She and my aunt, Gloria Sprague, talked me into attending one of Don Wiemer's postcard presentations and I was hooked. The event was held at the hospital meeting room in Oconomowoc, I assume because it was bigger than the museum's room. Okay.
