Mystery Weekend 2012 in Langley Washington Each year, Langley Washington located on Whidbey Island, participates in a local mystery. This year "IN COLD MUD" - Gold Fever Leads to Murder Typically a fake newspaper story is fun in the South Whidbey Record or a fake newspaper is created and purchased from the Visitors Center with details involving everyone in the murder.  Those that participate are instructed to search every store for a box of cards with a clue to the mystery. I first visited the small town of Langley, on Whidbey Island, back in the mid 1970's. Even then, there was this guy standing by the rail, his dog beside him, staring out at the ocean. I was there again yesterday and I had to look around the crowd of visitors to this pristine waterfront town but, there he was. Thirty years after the first time that I saw him, the same fellow was there gazing into the distance. I decided that the time was now to determine just exactly what he was viewing that was so spectacular as  to take up thirty years of his life. I held the camera over his head, and this is the view.
