New 564 Area Code in Western Washington  The Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission approved a plan to implement a new area code across Western Washington. Starting July 29, 2017 new 10-digit dialing has been required to accommodate the new 564 area code for Western Washington. This new 564 area code will slowly be assigned to new numbers in the 206, 253, and 425 area codes.Beginning July 29, 2017 all calls made within Western Washington must be placed using the 10-digit telephone number.
