I was thinking if I were transported back a hundred years would I have any of the media and apps I hold so dear today? At first I thought, no way... A little side trip this week revealed I just might, sort of. On my way home from Spokane last week I stopped by to spend the evening with my brother Steve and sister in law Joan Mamanakis in Cheney, Washington. After blabbing about everything under the sun for a couple of hours we went out for dinner then stopped by the Cheney Historical Museum. Joan is the museum’s director and I totally enjoyed a private viewing. I couldn’t help but think how far we’ve come in 100 years. All day long today everybody I've talked with in spokane, the first topic of discussion has been last nights game and stunning comeback by the Eastern Washington University football team and league championship win against Delaware.  Everyone has a story to tell and for me I was working out at the gym watching the game on the screen and noticed that by half time we were behind 12-0.  Well I am a Chief's Hockey fan, and not as big into football, so I thought "...and they were doing so good"...so by the end of the fourth quarter, I was at the arena with friends watching hockey (Spokane vs Lethbridge) and in front of 5,423 hockey fans the final score of the game was announced (20 - 19) the arena burst out into a roar of cheers.  Spokane did it!   Congratulations Eastern!!!  Go Eags!  It's ... 01/08/2011

I have been questioned by some Agents about what I inspect and why. The implication was that I was going beyond the scope of a Home Inspection when I include certain items. My reports are thorough so I do go beyond the minimum requirements on many things. A client will see notes on broken sprinkler heads, major fence issues even if they are not adjacent to the home, and some times outbuildings that are not attached.I will test the sprinklers if the client desires and I am able to. Each inspection is a case by case situation on these types of components. If these items were included in the clients inspection request of course they will get a full report on them. Mortgage lenders have supplanted the home inspector as the deal breakers or bad guys in the real-estate deal. I guess I should say I'm sorry to the lenders but I am not. I am kind-of glad there is a boogie man other than my profession. I know there are still concerns that a Home Inspector may bunch the deal, but with the current state of the mortgage lending industry, lenders have become the primary concern to Real Estate professionals. I have heard numerous stories about financing troubles that range from encyclopedic numbers of forms to rejection after the borrower had already been qualified and the ever increasing scrutiny of the home itself.
