Most agents will pull out all the stops for their high-end listings.  Staging Professional Photography Glossy, full color flyers...the works But if you really want to know how they're going to treat your house, take a look at how they market their most affordable listings.  Too often, you will see: Dark, amateur photography No staging efforts The MLS reports printed out in black and white for flyers Well, not me. I believe every listing deserves my best.  This little condo I listed in Magnolia was sited on a lush ravine and had been totally remodeled by the owner.  It just needed the finishing touches.  With some classic staging and gorgeous photography to capture the setting, it sold in thirty days. The other unit in the same complex is still sitting there six months later... These pho...

I knew that I had met a kindred soul when I was introduced to Patricia Gorham, owner of Inside/Out Style. She does redesign for your closet, just like I do redesign for your home. When she's done, you have totally coordinated wardrobe that expresses your personal style. You don't know what your style is? Don't worry, she'll find it for you. And to top it off you'll end up with more money in your pocketbook than you would have shopping on your own. She knows the difference between a real bargain and something that's just on sale. In her latest newsletter she had an excellent idea for organizing your clothes for the entire week. What a time and stress saver! You don't have to be a movie star to have your own stylist. COBRA help can free up housing money, too!  Along with the $8000 housing stimulus credit which just got signed, I was happy to see that there is help for families needing to continue their health coverage when their job ends. When you continue to pay for benefits to your ex-employer so that you can receive coverage it is called COBRA.  COBRA is expensive but necessary if there is a lapse in employment and you need medical insurance. Bravo to Obama for helping these families, too!  How?  There will be a government subsidy to help pay for COBRA benefits equal to 65% according to CNN for those families who make less than $250,000 or individuals who make less than $125,000.  The cool part about this is that the ex-employer covers the difference between the original premium and the new disc...

This email was sent to me from my broker Albie Moshcatel at John L Scott, Thought it was well worth sharing.  STROKE:  Remember the 1st Three Letters....S.T.R.   STROKE IDENTIFICATION  It only takes a minute to read this...  A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.  RECOGNIZING A STROKE  Thank God for the sense to remember the '3' steps, STR . Read and Learn!  Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize th...

The city of Seattle announced today at a joint meeting with Washington State Governor Christine Gregoire, King County Executive Ron Sims, and Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels to build a 4.2 billion dollar tunnel to replace the aging Akaskan way viaduct. There are approximately 100,000 vehicles that pass along this cooridor everyday and the structure is at it's last leg of the aging 55 year span. The next big earthquake may tumble this double decker concrete bridge to the ground. Opponents protest choosing such a project due to the fact of the costs involved to tax payers at a tune of 4,2 billion dollars. as opposed to a recent proposal of 2.8 billion project. Seattle area tax payers have always opposed one project or another and many great expansions have been scrapped because of it. The City...

The Washington State Army Corp. of Engineers control water levels on the states largest body of water, Lake Washington.  yet with annual flooding from rivers across the state, we seem to have problems with damages year after year. Am I iggorant about how this could be? or can there be things done statewide to fix this annual problem. I can't bear to see all the lost business, homes, personal effects caused by the flooding in these areas, This in turn adversly affects real estate and the economy. China is building the world's largest dam at Three Gorges that will stop flooding. How can we accomplish the same goals?

How is our industry handling the economic downturn in the market in 2009? What changes are we doing in our daily, weekly, monthly activites to make a shift in our business? How will December 31, 2010 realistically look for us? Is there a lifestyle change during these times? This is a question I pondered one weekend that changed everything I did and will do in the future. My Mom always told me to save the money I earned for a rainy day, I really never paid much attention to her advice to me, I knew what I had for a nest egg (an apartment building ) would keep food on the table when I retired and the fact that I would not need to rely on social security or retirement. My spending habits were like a rock star up until last year, I would easily go out on a weekend and buy a couple pairs of ...

With interest rates at approximately 4.875% it is probally the best time to buy real estate in Seattle in more than 20 years. There is plenty of homes on the market and lots of inventory to choose from. No matter if you are thinking of investing, buying, selling or even refinancing your existing home to buy a second home. Is a second home a good investment? Over 4.9 million homes sold in the United States in 2008 and of that over 70,000 were sold             in the Seattle-Metropolitan /Puget sound region.                                                                                                    Power of 1              Loan amount                            $250,000           $325,000          $417,000            Interest rates                                   6%*(P&I)         ...

Did you know? Many credit rating files contain inaccuracies that can affect your credit rating. With the threat of identity theft, the possibility of data sneaking in from a file of someone with a similar name to yours, and creditor reporting errors, it's a good idea to keep an eye on your credit-particularly if you are thinking of making a large purchase, such as a Seattle area home, in the coming year.  Your Credit Report Most creditors use one of three major credit bureaus: Equifax, Trans Union, and Experian. Because creditors aren't required to report to all three agencies, the only way to get a complete overview of your credit is to request a report from all three, which you can do at www.MyFico.com. Once you receive your reports, check them for clerical inaccuracies, including lat...

Here I am taking a walk down my street in Magnolia, it's so quite and peaceful out here it's kinda weird. When I door knock the neighborhood on a clear day, people are sometimes apprehensive, but today seemed so much different, we're just out for a walk and people were genuinely curious to see why we were out today, they peek out their windows, look up and ask if we need help, are we stuck somewhere?. I guess when the weather is bad like we got it here in Seattle this past couple of weeks people become very helpful to make sure their fellow man and woman are okay and safe, That's why I like living here in the Northwest.

Several Key Home Buying Tips To Understand When buying Seattle Real Estate   Did you know?     Whether it's a starter home, an investment property, or simply a fun project, according to the National Association of Realtors, buying a house in need of some TLC requires a few special considerations.  Purchase a home that is at least 30 percent below the market value of comparable homes in the neighborhood.  Choose a location with a low crime rate, good schools, and quiet streets. There isn't anything you can do to cure a poor location.  Choose a house with three or four bedrooms. Smaller homes are unlikely to have the same buyer appeal.    Avoid homes that need major, unprofitable repairs: wiring, major plumbing, foundation repairs, major kitchen or bathroom renovation, and room additions....

A few weeks before the primary, a reporter from KCTS and a videographer met each of we candidates to discuss how it was to be running for the State House Representative position in the 36th district.  The reporter left a message and said it is going to be showing this Friday. I didn't make it to the top two but it is a good opportunity to check out my opponents in a very different setting. I am now filling my days with the pursuit of real estate clients--a job I love.  One thing campaigning has done for me is helped me to knock on doors and make telephone calls.   Wallingford, Green Lake, Capitol Hill, Fremont, Ballard, Queen Anne, Magnolia, Laurelhurst, View Ridge, and Windermere, Washington Real Estate Property Listings.   I just checked what the Dow is doing--it is up 360 but before I looked I was hoping it wasn't following yesterdays route.  Will on Yahoo Finance, I ran into an article by one of my favorite guys "Ben Stein."  He wrote an article entitled "Drill, Baby Drill" which is talking about how the "Access Bill" that has just been passed to end the 26 year ban on offshore drilling maybe not exactly what the voters want. The drilling has to be 50 miles off shore (further out than where 80 percent of the oil and gas is).  It is a compelling article and I think the next time maybe we should draft Ben Stein for President.  And in the meantime, we can seriously think about whom we should vote out when they come up for election.  That would also go for local lawmakers.     Wallingford, Green Lake, Ca...

Many of you have probably asked the question, "What happens to a persons house and personal belongings when they die?"  The answer is that there is usually an estate sale.  This weekend there is an estate sale at a listing I will be co-listing later this month.  I thought I would take the opportunity to show you how they work.  So when the owner of this home died he willed his estate to his three children.  They are located all over the country.  The owner's wife passed away several years ago and they have lived in the house for several decades.  The family hired an estate lawyer to act as executor for the estate.  He in turn hired us to handle the sale of the home.   The first step is allowing the family members the opportunity to go through the home and remove any personal items they ...

I lost my race but it was such a worth-while experience.  I learned so much and thoroughly enjoyed meeting people and hearing their stories.  I have learned that one person can make a difference and that we should follow our passion.  I will be keeping my hand in politics and lend support for issues that I feel are important.  I will say that many of the skills it takes to be a good real estate agent are the same for an elected official.   I haven't been completely out of real estate during my campaign and name recognition is something I now have in my district.  I will now focus on helping people buy and sell homes which is also great fun for me.     Queen Anne, Magnolia, Wallingford, Green Lake, Fremont, Ballard and Redmond, Washington Real Estate Property Listings.
