That was a great line in the “Field of Dreams” but it holds doubly true in real estate developments. It is harder to sell a concept on a map than something you can feel. I have always said to my developer associates “turn over some soil, pour some concrete and get the spruce up” People need to see, hear and smell!!     Nothing generates new build excitement better than the perfume of off road diesel and freshly turned soil... oh and of course fresh spruce or fir. COTS is the Committee on Temporary Shelter for the Burlington area.  COTS hosts a few different fundraising events each year.  There will be a 5k Run/Walk starting from Dorset Park in South Burlington on Sunday June 30, 2013. The run/walk will begin at 9:30.  There will be a 1 mile kids run event beginning at 8:30.   The event is to raise public awareness about homelessness and to support COTS shelters and services for Vermonters who are homeless or who are at risk for losing their homes. Red Rocks Nature Club meets the last Sunday of each month at the main entrance to the park. Join naturalist Sophie Mazowita who leads a two hour nature walk around the park. Each month a new topic is discussed such as animal tracking, wilderness survival skills, trees, insects, birds, plants as medicine and many other interesting topics.   After the morning exploration and lunch, an afternoon stewardship activity is planned to help care for Red Rocks Park. Some of the stewardship activities may include planting trees, clearing trails, litter clean up and wildlife surveys.   The next meeting is on November 25, 2012. There will be no meeting in December.
