Developer Close Out  / Waterfront Lots for Sale on Virginia's Eastern Shore   The auction worked, new prices have been set at fair market value.   Earlier this month a Tranzon auction was held at Underhill Creek Landing, a waterfront community development just outside Onancock Virginia . A full description of the town, the community, and the auction can be found here.     Auctions are a great way to jump-start stalled sales on a development. The auction process builds an audience for the inventory and sets the benchmark for new pricing moving forward.   Following the auction at Underhill Creek Landing, three waterfront lots with private dock privileges remain for sale on Sunset Landing Drive, each are available at a buy-it-now price of $79,000.   Two water-view lots with boat slip privi...

"What boat are you on?" the dockmaster asked. It was the start of the 2014 summer and I was strolling around the town wharf in Onancock Virginia getting a sense of the place I'd be offering on behalf of my clients at auction. What boat was I on? Unfortunately the answer is "none". I had driven to Onancock Virginia that morning from Baltimore Maryland. As the crow flies, it would have been much cooler to arrive by boat. I imagined setting sail from Baltimore and heading out on the Chesapeake Bay. Oh well, at least I looked like I might be on a boat.       The town of Onancock Virginia has a wonderful slogan, "where history meets hospitality". As you might expect, there is colonial history with a settlement date of 1608 and a charter date of 1680.  The snapshot I took from the wharf of ...

Many people own property in an area where they do not reside. Whether it was purchased as an investment, or you moved permanently into a vacation home, does not make a difference. You are spending time in one place and the property is basically on its own.   There are many things that can go wrong in the property. Tenants can abuse it, appliances can break  down, pipes can burst or someone can break in.     So what do you do? The best solution is to hire a property manager. A property manager will deal with all the problems that can arise. Yes, it will cost you, but when the property is going through a down time, you are not being paid any rent.   I am speaking from personal experience. I have a property in Virginia in which I used to live. I ended up marrying and moving out, but my Fat...

I don't often get away from Paradise. This weekend I am up visiting family in rural Virgina. It truly is pretty here, and a lovely weekend. High temps in the 70's, lows in the 60's. Lunch at the Island House in Wachapreague was good as always. Sometimes I miss it here.

Onancock and the rest of the Eastern Shore of Virginia  are preparing for the annual Garden Tour on Saturday April 25th!  It is the best time to see some of the most beautiful homes on the shore.  While none of them are for sale at the moment it gives a distinct flavor of the beauty that exists here.  Since many of our lovely homes are tucked away down narrow country lanes that never hint at what lies beyond this is a great time to come and explore.  If you would like to visit then (or any other time) contact me through my web site www.vaeasternshore.  I will be happy to help you find extraordinary accomodations and also the home you've been looking for.  Our waterfront homes are some of the lowest priced on the eastern seaboard.  For more info on the Eastern Shore of Virginia House an...

Below are two image's I recorded of fishing boats at Chincoteague, Va. on Assateague Island in Accomack County on Virginia's Eastern Shore. Chincoteague is best known for the Chincoteague Ponies made famous by Marguerite Henry's children's book Misty of Chincoteague. Most of Assateague Island is preserved as The Assateague Island National Shore and the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge and is well worth a visit for the beautiful beaches, Assateague lighthouse, wildlife, and driving on the beach in your properly equipped 4x4, with a permit issued by the park.   Copyright Notice All images appearing herein are the exclusive property of B. The Assateague lighthouse in a 142 ft. tall lighthouse located on the southern end of Assateague island on Virginia's Eastern Shore, it was finished in 1802 and was painted in alternating bands of red and white. The lighthouse is located within the boundary's of the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge, a 14,000 acre wildlife preserve operated by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in Accomack County, Va.
