Last Saturday while I was attending an outdoor drama to commemorate the thirteen original colonies, I took a photo of several people in costume.  I didn't notice until I sent it to my computer today that one of the people in the photo was a tourist and was not in the costume of the day.    OOPS! I guess someone was enjoying his weekend along with the ladies in the colonial costumes!

There are many things to do in Colonial Williamsburg.    On Saturday July 4th an outdoor drama was presented in Colonial Williamsburg.  In this drama there was a flag for each of the thirteen original colonies.  A short presentation was given about each colony.    After the flag for that colony was presented a cannon was fired.  In the picture above the cannon is being prepared to be fired.

What doe the term "navigable water" mean to you? Which of the three rivers and several creeks in the greater Williamsburg Virginia are navigable by large boats?   Over the past 16 years working as a REALTOR, I have listed and sold many types of waterfront property.  In the process, I have learned that some REALTORS advertise property as being navigable waterfront when in reality it is only possible to use a canoe, kayak or very small boat in this "navigable water".  So the question comes to mind, what do most property buyers mean when they say they are looking for a house or lot that is on navigable water? If you have questions about waterfront property in the Williamsburg Virginia area or need to buy or sell property here, contact Sybil Campbell

I have been to some very good local Italian restaurants in the last few months and would like to give them two thumbs up! One of my favorite Italian restaurants in the Williamsburg James City County area is Franscesco's Restaurant which is located on Richmond Road about two miles west of the Premium Outlet mall.  This is a quaint restaurant that serves not only great entrees and appetizers, but has some of the best garlic bread I've ever tasted. Another local favorite for Italian is Sal's by Victor which is located in a shopping center at the intersection of Richmond Road and Monticello Ave.   Paul's Deli has two locations in Williamsburg, one in New Town and the other is near Colonial Williamsburg.  At a recent pot luck dinner, someone brought penne pasta with meatballs and marinara fr...

Last night I learned that I finally got my Virginia real estate license!  It probably would have been easier to get a bill passed in congress than to transfer my Florida real estate license to Virginia through reciprocity.   I'm not complaining without good cause, since I have done this before. I transfered my real estate license from Florida to Virginia though reciprocity in 2004 and was actively licensed as a REALTOR for over 8 years.  The process back in 2004 was not nearly as difficult as it was in 2015! Last night I logged on to the Virgina DPOR website and this was what I saw:   Now, I am ready willing and able to help buyers and sellers with their real estate needs in southeastern Virginia.

Today I realized that it's a small world when I chatted with Susan Haughton.  While ringing and singing in the rain we both realized just how small our world is.   Susan Haughton noticed a commented that I had written a few weeks ago in which I mentioned working for Long and Foster in Williamsburg.  She commented and told me that she had been wondering why my picture looked familiar.  After she read my comment she remembered that she had been searching for an agent in Williamsburg and saw my profile.  The buyers dedided not to Williamsburg so we never talked.  Subsequently I moved to Fernandina Beach so Susan didn't make the connection since I was no longer with Long and Foster in Williamsburg.   We chatted for over 45 minutes and saw that we have a lot in common in addition to both bei...

I just sold this oak secretary style book case I advertised this oak secretary on Craigs List several weeks ago.    Yesterday I received an email from a lady who wanted to purchase it.  She drove almost two hours to my house.  My friend Doug and his son helped her load it into her SUV.   Things are progressing nicely for my move to Williamsburg, Virginia where I will be joining the team at Long and Foster.  I will be available to help you with your real estate needs in Williamsburg and all of the Hampton Roads area.

Throwback Thursday: My son and grandsons out of their element!  This picture of my son and grandsons was taken on Christmas day in 2010 in Williamsburg, Virginia.  They were standing in front on the dock behind my house.  According to the media, this snowfall was 18 inches.  It was a treat for these three since they live in south Florida.

An adventurous and eventful trip from Virginia to Florida:   I just realized that since my drive from Virginia to Florida on Friday, I haven't posted a blog.  The drive is over 600 miles and it takes about 9 and a half hours, but the traffic was so bad Friday that I had to take an alternate route three times and it took almost 12 hours.   Interstate 95 is two lanes in each direction in the southern part of South Carolina and the traffic will often bottle neck there. I got off for a while on U. S. 17 and got back on I -95 when it looked like the traffic was moving better.   Within a matter of minutes the traffic was stop and go; once again I got on U. S. 17 which is two lanes there so imagine my frustration when the traffic came to a dead stop a few miles north of the Georgia line!  It w...

I will soon be seeing my friends at Yoga in Williamsburg Virginia!   This picture was taken with my friend, Kay the last time I attended a Yoga class at the Williamsburg/JCC rec center.  I met Kay at the Rec center in October 2002 before I had officially moved there.  We had so much in common that we became immediate friends.  My husband had taken a job transfer in August of 2002 and I was there looking for a house.    When I moved to Florida in February 2012, I spent the night with Kay and her husband before starting the long drive the next day.   Well, now that my circumstances have changed I will be moving back to the Williamsburg area in February 2015.   I will soon be seeing my friends at Yoga in Williamsburg Virginia!

This picture of fall colors on a lake near Williamsburg Virginia remind me how much I enjoy the colors of autumn that we have so little of here in northeast Florida:     This lake is in West Point Virginia near the house of my good friends Ron and Patti who live there.

Sentimental Saturday: Catching air in Williamsburg   This is my daughter, Jamie and my grandsons, Paul and Ryan.  They were catching air near the parking lot of a school in Williamsburg.  It was taken a few days after Christmas in 2010.      Williamsburg had a record snowfall of 18 inches that started on Christmas day and lasted through midnight on December 26th.   My son and grandsons live in south Florida so sledding was a real treat for them.  I bought boots and snow pants for the boys and was able to borrow jackets for them.  I'm sure this is a Christmas that they will never forget.

How to keep gueese off a dock!   I posted this blog several years ago and today I was looking through my archives and read it.  I thought it was worthy of another look so here it is the updated version of that blog:   If you or anyone you know owns a dock in the Williamsburg Virginia area, there may have been a problem with gueese using the dock as their personal bathroon.   I tried chasing them off, waving my arms or a small branch at them and shouting like a crazy person!  I'm sure it was quite a sight.  One of them stuck out it's tongue and hissed at me; the very idea!   I heard putting fishing line across the entrance to the dock would keep gueese off the dock.  I tried it and now the dock doesn't have to be constantly cleaned.

I might not be doing a lot of blogging for the next eight days.     I will be flying to Virginia tomorrow to visit my daughter and meet her new husband.  Tomorrow will be their one week anniversary!    I'm really excited to spend time with family and friends in Williamsburg, Va where I lived for nine years.    I also plan to see some colleagues and my broker at Long and Foster REALTORS in New Town.

I have been having a pity party lately.   I have been having a pity party lately for several reasons that seem so trivial now I won't even mention them.  This morning as I was going through my email I came upon an old newsletter from Active Rain and the first blog featured in that newsletter caught my eye!  The words that stuck out were "blind man" and "outselling".  I was intriqued so I read the entire blog.  The blog inspired me just as Tom Moncrief had said it would in his teaser line. I wanted to know more about this amazing blind realtor Joseph Klatt so I went to his website.      I read through a little bit of the home page but was more interested in Joseph Klatt, so I went to his bio page.  After that I was so inspired that I sent an email out with this information to some of my ...
