The Riverfront 5K Race Raises over $2,000 for Local Charity Over 200 people & dogs came out to The Riverfront at Harbour View yesterday for our 8th Annual Turkey Trot! Beautiful Day & Great People came out to help raise funds for the Suffolk Humane Society. Every year when the leaves have turned, hundreds of adults, teens, children, … and even dogs, gather in The Riverfront community for an annual 3.1 mile trek to raise money for the local chapter of the Humane Society. This past Saturday, November 19, 2011, over two hundred participants (2-legged and 4-legged), came together for the 8th Annual Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk raising more than $2,000 for this great cause. Real estate: Market is down but not out By Emily Collins Suffolk News Herald                                   It might be the fastest growing city in Virginia, but that doesn’t make Suffolk immune to the troubles in the real estate market. In North Suffolk a multitude of new homes make for a special kind of market, but real estate experts say the abundance isn’t hindering sales in the area. Suffolk's population has boomed over the past decade, outpacing most cities and counties in the state with a 32.8 percent increase in residents. The spike in population and new high tech companies relocating to the Harbour View area of Suffolk help make the Suffolk/Isle of Wight County area one of the hottest growth areas in Virginia. The count, released Thursday, was among the first local figures to come from the 2010 census.
