Summer Food Safety Tips Summer-time is one of the best times of year to enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables, especially those that aren't available year-round. But recent salmonella outbreaks like those in last year's spinach crops or this year's tomato crops are an important reminder about handling food properly. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) notes that there is no way for consumers to detect salmonella since it can't be smelled, tasted, or seen. Residents in Oakton, VA are preparing to celebrate a major victory against the hyper-growth that filled the area for the last decade or so. This Saturday, September 29, the new Oakton Library is celebrating its grand opening.The land where the library is situated, just off Rt. 123 and Hunter Mill Rd., was set aside as builders were tripping over themselves to put more and more high density residential neighborhoods.Now don't misunderstand me. I like new homes and I am, after all, a Realtor, so new homes generally signal a growing industry, and that is positive on the surface.
