After the Civil War ended Manassas prospered and became the business and cultural center of Prince William County. By the end of the 19th century Victorian style homes lined the streets of what is now Old Manassas. A very large number remain and are lovingly restored, occupied and a source of civic pride. However, one on Prospect Street had not fared as well. Its' last owner neglected it and it was eventually abandoned and scheduled for demolition by the City of Manassas.
