LOVETTSVILLE VA IS STILL IN WINTER WEATHER BUT I HAVE TULIPS BLOOMING IN MY SUN ROOM IN EARLY MARCH. Back in early February, I brought the 4 pots of Tulips I was "forcing" in my garage.  I'm not sure of the date when these bulbs were planted but it would have been around November or early December.   I'd have planted them in the yard, but I just never got to it.  So, in the pots of soil they went, covered and placed on a table in my garage.  Early February, I could see the "shoots"peeking through the soil, so I brought them in, watered them thoroughly, put them in a sheltered location in a corner of the Kitchen to avoid shock.   About 2 weeks ago, I put them in my Sun Room.    WHAT A WAY TO WAIT FOR SPRING.                                                                      WEATHER FOR... 03/05/2010

LOVETTSVILLE VIRGINIA IS UNDER 4 FEET OF SNOW. I planned a bulb garden in my yard the month I moved in.  The area is just behind the driveway and, in the spring, offers a lovely colorful splash of color with Tulips and Daffodil blossoms.  CHRONOLOGY OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF A BULB GARDEN IN LOVETTSVILLE               Doesn't look like much until.......................................... Spring when the Tulips bloom. Circa 2007 with the rocks in place, the Tulips and Daffodils planted.  Those River Rocks are not all decorative.  They follow a natural swale created in a very heavy rain that washed the mulch onto the driveway.  So, we filled the swale with River Rock.  No more washing out of mulch and very pretty. SNOW REMOVAL IN LOUDOUN COUNTY VIRGINIA - STAGE TWO OF THE BLIZZARD OF 2010. WHAT A MONTH IT HAS BEEN.  66 inches of snow at Dulles is the closest official measurement I can find and that sounds about right for my home in Lovettsville.  The first stage of survival in "The Blizzard of 2010", was February 9.  Enjoy.  SNOW REMOVAL IN LOUDOUN COUNTY VIRGINIA - ADVANCED SNOW BLOWERS - PEACE OF MIND. Well, I just gained a higher respect for the weather professionals.  They predicted that snow would begin in MD and VA at about 10:00 a.m. The snow began at 10:00 a.m.  That's almost scary.  It's like they "turned the switch".               Fortunately, in Loudoun County, VA, VDOT does a good job of clearing the highways and local roads where my house is located.  Lovettsville is lovely in the snow.  It's equally lovely in the spring, summer and fall.
