Did you see him?  He was in Leesburg this morning!    As part of the Childrens Performance Series, Kaleidoscope Theatre at Ida Lee, Rufus was our special guest this morning!  Once a month, there is a different performer.  My son and I try to go each month - it's special "Mommy-Devon" time; but this month, our friend Zavion joined us.Rufus is a brown dog with a red nose.  He's been homeless, hungry, cold and in the rain, for some time.  He was looking for some food to eat and a place to stay when we met him.  Then, out of the blue, SANTA arrived!  But, Santa did not believe he was a dog, as Santa had never seen a dog with a red nose.  You see, Santa's dog is hot pink and has a purple nose, and so that is what Santa thinks ALL dogs should look like.  To prove he is a dog, Rufus had to go ... 12/17/2009

Last year I posted a blog about Toys for Tots drop off location and only two people donated to the Toys for Tots Foundation box after seeing my blog.  I was at a Toys for Tots drop off location in Herndon on Saturday and two boxes were filled within two hours.  I wish the same thing would happen in Leesburg.  One box is about 1/4 full so please drop off some toys.  These times are difficult and we need to do everything in our power to help and plus giving feels good.  Please drop off toys for the holidays at the Long and Foster in Leesburg, the official drop off location for Marine Toys and Tots Foundation.  We are collecting new, unwrapped toys so they can distribute these toys to needy children in the community.  Long and Foster is open Monday through Friday from 9am-5pm.  Saturdays a... 12/07/2009

Starting next month on December 1, 2009 our once famous - now infamous tobacco state will join the ranks of other states as a new anti-smoking law takes hold in Virginia.  The Old Dominion will finally join the growing ranks of states that banned smoking in restaurants.  The new ban will allow restaurants in Virginia to have a smoking area only if they separate the smokers into rooms into rooms that have their owned contained ventilation systems separate from those that heat and cool those of non-smoking patrons.  Due to the expense of retrofitting a restaurant or eateries in this lackluster economy, it is expected that less than 10% of restaurants will accommodate this segregated smoking arrangement provision. Most restaurants will just comply, and forego the conversion.  So for the mo... 11/27/2009

Loudoun VA Real Estate Report for October 2009.  Sales of homes in Loudoun VA saw an increase of 8.64% in price compared to same period in October 2008.  The average price of Loudoun VA homes sold has moved higher.  This tells us that the Loudoun VA Real Estate Market may have hit bottom and increased slightly.  We will still have to wait and see the trends in the next few months.  Rates are low and stimulus money are keeping things up right now especially in the DC area. This real estate report shows a YTD comparison of average Loudoun VA homes sold chart based on MRIS Data*.  The Loudoun Real Estate market has changed and we all need to know what is occurring. The most recent statistics for our MLS (MRIS*) were just released on November 10 for all October 2009 sales of homes in Loudoun Virginia.  Though Loudoun homes prices rose over .38% over last years average sales price, prices as a whole are still way off their peaks.  If we compare the average Loudoun homes sale price of $550,974 in October of 2005 to the Loudoun homes average sales price of $375,575 in October  of 2009 it shows us several things.  First of all the average home sales price of a single family Loudoun homes has fallen 31.83%.  It is not that the prices have dropped that much, but the number does show you where the action is...in much lower priced homes, and distressed Loudoun homes and properties.  Please keep in mind that sellers are also contributing more to make the sa... 11/23/2009

The elections is finally over and we have a few winners.  It was reported in the news tonight that we have a new conservative Governor, Republican Bob McDonnell. Bob McDonnell was also the former state attorney general of Virginia. It has been reported by many news sources this evening that Gov. McDonnell easily won the election, and had a strong showing especially in the suburban areas of Prince William and Loudoun VA.   Democrats, and Independents were a big help in the election, and Governor Bob McDonnell thank them for their support in  speech a short wile ago.  We wish you well in your new office. Every time I turn around there is some special event for DOGS here in Leesburg.  Sheesh!  You'd think they were part of the family or something. Not too long ago, the "off leash" dog park opened at Olde Isaak Walton Park in Leesburg (just off Rte 15/King Street on the south side of town, near the Bloom grocery store).  Olde Isaak Walton is a a 21 acre park with a small stream, huge 3 1/2 acre lake, a community center, picnic areas, hiking trails and now an off leash dog park.The weekend after the official closing of the AV Symington Aquatic Park (aka the Water Park/Outdoor Pool at Ida Lee), they offered a "Dog Swim" with proceeds of the event supporting the non profit organization "Leesburg Dogs" who will use the money to continue its efforts to maintain the existing dog park, and they ... 10/16/2009
