I like to wait a few days after the end of the month to look at market data. Seems we have some agents that are a little slow at adding closing to our MLS. When you are looking for Charlottesville Real Estate remember that Charlottesville is in Albemarle County. We have grand estates and horse farms in Albemarle. The back roads will give you a feeling of peace and harmony as you drive by these beautiful properties. When you are ready to tour, just give me a call, it is myfavorite thing to do in our area.   The town of Crozet is really not very big. I often hear from people who are visiting that say today, we are driving out to Crozet. I have mixed thoughts when I hear that. First, I love Crozet but to me it is more of a feeling that a place. Second, I think people expect to find a small town and it is not really even that. Sure there are a few restaurants, a store, a post office, a library and even a train but Crozet is more about the feeling and the area at the base of the Blue Ridge. Here is an example, when you drive under the train tracks of many places you see graffiti. In Crozet here is what you will see: I love the fact that where (in some towns) you might see graffiti, in Crozet you see Art!!! You may not see more than a few buildings in a couple of blocks when you visit Crozet...

A few tidbits from Crozet... 1. Google made it's way through Crozet a few months ago and Crozet is now on Google Streetview.  Check out Nest Realtor Jim Duncan's blog for more on the topic.  (Thanks to Jim Duncan for pointing this out to me) 2.  There was a write up in yesterday's Daily Progress on Crozet Station and it's progress in Downtown Crozet.  With the Crozet Streetscape project making great strides, the Crozet Station re-development is a perfect next step to help with the look and feel of Crozet.  I agree that Crozet has its charm...but the shops, restaurants, and businesses in Downtown Crozet could use a major facelift.  I think it would be a great thing for the success of those businesses and for the entire community.  Read more in the Daily Progress. Established in 1997, Cory Farm is a 67 home neighborhood located in Crozet.  Cory Farm homes are 8 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive, yet within walking distance to a variety of shops and restaurants including the Shoppes at Clover Lawn and the Crozet Harris Teeter. As a relatively small subdivision, Cory Farm doesn't have a large number of sales from year to year.  After the final new homes were completed and sold in 2004, there have been a total of 28 sales between 2005 and 2008...meaning that about 42% of the homes have ‘turned over' in that 4 year span.  Considering the average homeowner moves every 7 years, Cory Farms is in line with normal turnover rates. As with most Charlottesville and Crozet neighborhoods, sales numbers and prices in Cory Farm peaked in the 2...

While driving near Charlottesville Virginia on Hwy 64 there is a little turn-out worth stopping at to take a look at the view (see above photo I took today). There is more to this stop than just the view. This is the VDOT Workers` Memorial.... see below: NOTE: No public funds were used to build this memorial. It is really a sight to see and we are proud that it is located close to our small town of Crozet and Charlottesville in the center of Virginia! Note the details appears to be 3 images of a worker...

What is Crozet or should I say who is Crozet? The community of Crozet began as a whistle stop on the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad in 1876 that was established at the request of the Miller Manual Labor School (the Miller School), which had been founded a year earlier. It was named for Colonel B. Claudius Crozet (1789-1864), a French born civil engineer and artillery officer under Napoleon who is best remembered as the chief engineer for the seventeen mile long railroad tunnel through the Blue Ridge Mountains. Since its inception, it has functioned as a distinct settlement with a unique history of agriculture, small business enterprises, and a dynamic civic spirit.  Crozet was selected for the first Master Plan by the Board of Supervisors in October 2001, based on the community's strong ...

First of all Crozet is not a dirty word, it is a small town just West of Charlottesville. Many times when I am out I find that I do not have a camera with me...but I always have my blackberry and it takes great photos. Recently I was out and took this photo: I was amazed at this skylight and the way it created let in so much light even on a cloudy day. Well, I just happened to be in the new Harris Teeter in Crozet. Yes, I was grocery shopping with my wife :) Ok, she was shopping and I was taking pictures... long story short, here is the poster on the way out of the store: I think the poster says it all! A great idea from a great store.

As you drive under the train overpass in Crozet you can not help but see the artwork on the side walls. Many towns have grafitti or "tags" I for one am certainly glad we do not. Just one more little thing that makes this area (at the base of the Blue Ridge) special.
