Southern Utah Fishing: In Pursuit of the Capture   Calm waters. Fish rolling. Baited hooks. Lines cast.   Catching rainbows. Reeling in. Rinse and repeat. Wish days like this could last.   Panguitch has been a favorite family day trip destination for some time. Casting a line from the bank can be advantageous when very familiar with all hot spots teeming with fish.   Rental cabins are available to rent offering lake views, boat slips at the dock, boat rentals-from pontoons to small aluminum models, a full service restaurant and fishing supply store.   Horseback riding trips, ATV trails and so much more right there to take advantage of. I see a long weekend spent there in our near future! Let's go fishing soon My Honey!   #GoneFishing #PanquitchLake #BigFish     Looking for an experienc...

Catch and Release? No Way!  My husband and I love to go fishing at Panguitch Lake. It has been our favorite spot for many years. A weekend spent in a rustic cabin suits our needs and allows us to unwind and enjoy being present together. Packing a few meals early morning, we then set out to the water. Most of the daylight hours are spent on our pontoon boat, casting, baiting and catching. We have been known to do some night prospecting too!  Some people fish, catch, then release. Why go through all the preparation and planning to just let them go? Which reminds me of business. Are you in it to capture clients only to release them? Of course not! We all work toward a successful end result. Catch and release? No way, not here, no how! ..........................................................

In search of pirates on the high seas...!  Oh, to have the imagination of a 3-year old again.  Early Saturday morning Popop, Ruger and I woke at 4:30 am ready for the day's adventure at Panguitch Lake.  We arrived at 7:30, launched in calm waters, setting out to catch a few fish. And we did! Before leaving, Captain Ruger and First Mate Popop took a brisk spin, slicing through the high seas in search of pirates. Though we caught sight of a pirate's boat, no one was aboard. Cannon fire was unnecessary at that point, so we hooked up, heading toward home. Picking fresh strawberries from the patch in Nerdin Gardens is was what Ruger was next set on! Happy Monday all, adventure is just waiting for you to arrive! ...............................................................  Buying or sellin...

Re-bait. Re-cast. Rinse in the drink and repeat often!  Early morning travels to our favorite fishing spot allow us to capture the day's beginning. The cloud cover creates some beautiful scenes with the sun peeking through at intervals, as we continued to our destination.    We arrive and set up for a day of fishing...  Sweet success! We caught our limit, including a nice 3 pound trout that is perfect for smoking! What an amazing day that yielded excellent results! I highly recommend the proven methods of re-bait, re-cast, rinse in the drink and repeat often, you will net some rewards for your efforts! Happy Friday to you all!

If people concentrated on the really important things in life...    The fishing season may be over for us but the days spent casting, baiting and catching are well remembered. So as we prepare for Winter's arrival, we will also be thinking ahead to Spring and of future visits to our favorite fishing spot. Ahhh! The memories will carry me over 'till then...maybe. If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles.  ~Doug Larson Enjoy the day!

Wordless Wednesday (almost!): And s-t-r-e-t-c-h!  While fishing off the bank at Panguitch Lake we encountered a chipmunk looking for companionship food. He befriended my husband and shook his hand took food from his hand. He was as as happy as a sea gull with a french fry chipmunk with a potato chip. He had more than a few! He really s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d himself to see what kind of nutritional items goodies we had to offer and at one point had his head in the treat bag. It was sad to see him go, it was quite entertaining to watch him maneuver through the rocks and boulders scattered on the steep enbankment. Flittering here and there! See you later Stretch!

If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, it must be a... 35% rain quickly turned into 100% as we came over the rise just before Panquitch Lake. A light sprinkle did nothing to deter us from setting up our spot on the beach. Sitting inside the truck during a downpour or two until we realized there was rain gear in the toolbox.  If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, it must be a duck...oh, wait, that's me in a bright neon yellow slicker with hood and matching pants! Ha! Who needs fishing fashion when you are nice and dry? We caught 2 fish and 2 got away. I'd say that is about perfect for the 4th of July! The weather was supposed to be a balmy 82 degrees for the day's high and when we left a 8:00 p.m., the water was calm, no wind and the clouds had dissipated. What a great fishing...

Wordless Wednesday (almost!): With grace. While fishing this weekend at Panguitch Lake, I couldn't help but notice how alert the sea gulls were when food became available. From afar, they honed in on a man cleaning his fish at the shoreline, then one-by-one they floated through the air, landing side-by-side, patiently awaiting the fresh meal drifting toward them. While some may call them 'trash birds', scavengers or greedy guts; I say they are nature's opportunists, utilizing what is of no value to others. Somehow their keen eyesight or built-in sonar system reminded me of past mealtimes at my parent's house with 10 people sitting around the table. Not a scrap left on our plates! These birds realize their purpose as they soar gracefully through the skies, contentedly moving ever closer ...

“Some lake somewhere...I'm there! Due to a burst pipe, Panguitch Lake drained down quite a bit so we have been reluctant to bring the boat. We have been fishing from the bank instead. My husband and I have enjoyed sitting, baiting, casting and catching fish. Whether your place of relaxation is a beach, an island, a lake or your own back yard, one thing is sure, it's time well spent! Happy Monday folks! It's now time to get back to work.

Wordless Wednesday (almost!): Tiger Trout Alert! Prior to catching this beauty at Panguitch Lake, I had only seen a Tiger Trout in photos which did this exceptional species no justice. The swirling gold and brown colors, unusual pattern design and rich sheen was a mystical sight as I reeled it in. Unbelievable! It measured 19 inches; just 3 inches shy of becoming a keeper and a fine meal! I caught a healthy 5 pound Cut Throat Trout that measured 20 inches and set it quickly back into the lake to live another day along with 4 others. My husband was able to keep one he caught and we came home with 3 Rainbow Trout. We follow the guidelines set for by the Utah Fishing Proclamation that is sent out every year. It ensures the success of all species while promoting responsible fishing habits t...

“SUMMER FUN Contest” ~ Reflect, relax and rejuvenate! This is an entry for the Positive Attitude for the Weary Soul Group Contest! | Fun in the Sun While the Business Still Runs!  Join in on the Challenge! While business is still in high gear, I find my thoughts drifting, wishing for a little time on the lake to reflect, relax and rejuventate the attitude. Of course, while my husband and I both love to think the world cannot do without us for long, we also know how important a quick weekend getaway is to our mindset. All I have to do is ask someone in the brokerage to help take over while I am gone because there is no internet, television or phone service where we vacation. Just plenty of water, an abundance of fish and a warm place to rest at night. If a client needs immediate help, I ...

Speechless Sunday(almost!): Should I stay or should I go now?  A sudden storm blew in complete with roiling clouds, spraying a fine mist from the heavens at Panguitch Lake. We expected a deluge but in its place came a vibrant rainbow breaking through heavy cover, stretching downward. It appeared to be confused as if to ask…Should I stay or should I go? And it did! Happy Sunday to you all!

One of the great things about living in Cedar City is that we are more or less the hub of Southern Utah.  We are the Gateway to Utah's National Parks.  This Festival isn't in Cedar City, but rather in Escalante.  It will take place Friday and Saturday.  The Escalante Canyons Art Festival is held in Escalante, Utah. Some of the Festival events feature the Plein Air painting competition, a fine arts and crafts exhibition and sale.  There will be lectures, poetry and discussions about Everett Ruess.  There will also be exhibits, workshops, gallery open houses, walking tours of nearby historic buildings, and performances by cowboy poets, dance groups and musicians. MUST SEE! A rare DOUBLE RAINBOW!      My husband and I threw together a quick plan for a day fishing trip to Panguitch Lake, just the two of us.We packed, hooked up the pontoon boat and away we went! Reaching the lake about 1:00 p.m., launched the boat and sat back for the rest of the day... Baiting Casting  Catching  Releasing Keeping Relaxing  The day offered plenty of sunshine, clouds and then all of a sudden a squall moved in, forcing us off the lake! We also caught another beauty after the storm passed over...I guess you could say we caught a DOUBLE RAINBOW!   Wow! What a great way to end the day!

Wordless Wednesday (almost!): Shut the front door!  Showing instructions should be followed implicitly on this property to avoid any type of, uh, unexpected surprises. Otherwise, it could prove very embarrassing! And when you're finished...please...Shut the front door! ..................................................... During our visit to Panguitch Lake a few weeks ago, I happened to come across this outhouse and couldn't resist taking a picture. I knew I'd use it eventually...the photo of course...not the facilities! Happy Wednesday to you all! ..................................................... For more information on vacationing at Panguitch Lake, go to: www.rvfish.com791 S Lakeshore Dr, Panguitch, UT (435) 676-2657

Wordless Wednesday (almost!): Pure reflection Ever question why people say that a bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work? After an exceptional day on the lake with anchors set, calm waters lazily lapping at the hull, the sun peeking through tufts of clouds, the azure sky, you'll wonder no more... Pure reflection at its best.  --oOo-- One of our favorite fishing spots is at Panguitch Lake where this photo was taken and if you'd like more information on this beautiful southern Utah recreational area, go to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panguitch_Lake And for vacation information, go to: www.bearparfishingresort.com or http://www.go-utah.com/Blue-Springs-Lodge/

If only to hear a few conversations of the family that traveled along the dusty road on the way to market with a wagon full of farm goods or dressed in their finest going to the local church for Sunday worship. While on our way to our favorite fishing spot at Panguitch Lake, we stopped at the Paguitch General Store for worms and sitting alongside the highway were several pieces and parts of old wagons in various stages of decay. The metal wheels and joints have survived the weather, the wood slowly turning to splinters as time unhurriedly passes by. This wagon seems to say: My giddyup's dun gawn! Happy Sunday to you all!

Motivational Monday: Think you've been there and seen it all? Just when I think I've seen everything there is to see in our great state of Utah, my eyes are opened WIDE to something NEW! We stopped after a day of fishing to take a quick look just off the side of the road and discovered Cedar Breaks National Monument. There was an opening in the trees and underbrush... A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! I thought I heard a choir singing "Hallelujah!" as the view was laid open in front of me! This has convinced me to get out more and discover what my own backyard has to offer! Keeping looking and exploring, you may just be surprised at what you find in yours! Cedar Breaks National Monument is sometimes called a miniature Grand Canyon and is located just outside of Brian Head, Utah.
